Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Retail Business Advisor (RBA) is responsible to provide ongoing support to assigned Medicine Shoppe franchisees in Western Canada. The RBA is a business consultant, and assists the pharmacist-owner in increasing top line sales, maximizing gross profit, and managing assets and expenses. . The RBA will assist with training and development of owners and employees, while identifying operational opportunities and assisting owners with profitable solutions. Focus is on fulfillment of strategic goals as established and communicated on an annual basis and supported by corresponding measurements.
Section A – Specific Responsibilities
Establish, maintain and strengthen business relationships with owners.
To assist existing pharmacy owners in increasing sales and profitability
Monitor pharmacy compliance on on-going basis.
On-going implementation of programs, in particular marketing programs, in order to increase private brand sales.
Plan and implement a regular program/call cycle of store visits, with franchise stores in the assigned territory.
Collaboratively create and consult with the owner to execute their annual business plan.
Prepare for and conduct quarterly (minimum) financial reviews of actual store performance to plans with each franchisee.
Provide comprehensive operational support in all areas; marketing, advertising, pharmacy operations, formulary compliance, point-of-sale (POS) activities, and pharmacy technology usage.
Train franchisees and their employees on best practices in retail merchandising operations: displays, labelling, promotional activities, loss management and profitability analysis.
Influence franchisees to subscribe to the various services offered by the Retail Banner group and refer them to the relevant stakeholders.
Be the market expert in cash transactions and third-party plans.
Manage and coach adherence to vendor programs.
Escalate serious issues (e.g. breach of license agreement, lack of adherence to standards) to the Senior Operations Manager.
Liaison between the store, Retail Banner Services and preferred suppliers to ensure customer concerns are communicated and resolved
Provide store leads to Business Development, PTS, Home Health Care and Pharmacy Services.
To recruit existing independent pharmacies to join the Medicine Shoppe program.
Help develop the network by identifying future sites and prospective owners.
Execute store grand openings.
Section B – Key Requirements
Grade 12 education minimum, University degree in a relevant discipline; Business preferred
Understanding pharmacy and the business of pharmacy in the BC market place.
5 years Retail/Pharmacy management experience with strong merchandising and sales background.
Identifying with the independent business person.
Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
Knowledge of retail pharmacy products and operations.
Knowledge of POS and dispensary systems.
Superior organization, planning and time management skills.
Excellent selling and presentation skills.
Superior communication skills both written and verbal.
Demonstrated leadership and people skills.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within McKesson Canada.
