Job Description

Waste Connections of Canada, the leader in non-hazardous solid waste management in North America is looking for SIDE LOAD - GARBAGE TRUCK DRIVERS to join our team Brockville, ON. We are looking for a SAFETY inclined, energetic, autonomous and proactive team player capable of making a difference in his/her team and community.

The Residential Garbage Truck Driver is responsible for waste and recycling collection services in various municipalities in order to ensure that the materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner to designated transfer station or landfill.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Safely through dense areas for yard waste, recycling and organic waste pickup

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through reliable service

  • Dump contents at designated transfer station or landfill

  • Complete pre and post shift checks of truck

Qualifications:

  • Commercial drivers’ license DZ is required and must be maintained

  • Proven record of safe driving performance

  • Able to start working between around 6 am

  • Capable to work up to 10 hours per day

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Extremely Physically demanding role

  • Seated and standing in a truck. Exposed to heat/cold, rain, snow.

  • Climbs in and out of truck at each customer site and manually dumps bins weighing around 50 pounds (depends on contents e.g., cans vs paper) a few feet to truck and back over 1200 times a day.
