Job Duties::

As a Buyer working on the New Product Development team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by meeting the procurement needs of the team/s, building supplier relationships and executing with speed and agility. In a typical day, you will:

  • Perform as a core member of the NPD project team throughout the project life cycle.

  • Serve as a primary focal point and liaison between suppliers, and project teams.

  • Ensure a clear understanding and communication of requirements between suppliers and project teams.

  • Directly responsible for ensuring the timely availability of goods and services throughout the project life cycle (e.g. prototypes, engineering builds, validations, launch, etc.).

  • Initiate required follow up and provide updates to the appropriate team members.

  • Ensure total compliance to OSTA Purchasing Policy and OSTA Quality Management System.

  • Provide accurate data to Project teams for smart and efficient decision making.

  • Support Advance Sourcing Manager (ASM) to develop a robust sourcing and supply chain strategy throughout the project life cycle.

  • Directly responsible for conducting RFXs, placement of purchase orders for goods and services and maintain proper documentation for status updates during project status reviews.

  • Ensure a smooth hand off to the material buyers at product launch.

  • Directly responsible for creating and maintaining purchase orders and ensuring purchase price compliance, i.e. confirming that purchase order price always matches supplier quoted price.

  • Manage the resolution of purchased price variances, Accounts Payable discrepancies, receiving discrepancies Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions, NCR and SCAR for goods and services related to NPD projects, on a timely basis.

  • Cultivate good relationships with suppliers in an effort to get the best value possible for OSTA.

  • Maintain strong relationship with Strategic Purchasing Managers and provide support to ensure commodity strategies are being implemented appropriately.

  • Contribute to total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction efforts and promotes communication across functions to identify and drive common policies and best practices to achieve cost reductions.

  • Training skills to mentor and coach Associate Buyer’s in the skills to support the Purchasing Function.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, ISO and Corporate Quality System regulations.

  • Adhere to established company policies and procedures.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements::

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Business, Engineering, Purchasing or Supply Chain .

  • Minimum of 3 years of Procurement experience is required, preferably in the Medical Device Industry in NPD environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPM, APICS is preferred.

  • Oracle experience is desired.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.

  • Must have strong attention to detail.

  • Strong customer service skills and analytical skills.

  • Must have strong negotiation skills.

  • Must be able to collaborate and work well within cross-functional teams.

  • Must be able to interact and work with a wide variety of people and departments.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.

  • Strong time management and the ability to organize and align project tasks.

  • Must be able to contribute to the completion of milestones associated with multiple projects.

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude during change and is able to adapt activities to changing conditions.

The Buyer, New Product Development is a part of the Advance Sourcing team that will be responsible for ensuring the coordination of all procurement activities and discussions related to a New Product Development (NPD) project and provide a communication focal point between the project team and associated suppliers. The NPD Buyer will be responsible for a smooth handoff to the appropriate material buyers as product launch approaches, ensuring system accuracy of all key purchasing parameters. The incumbent will work in a matrix organization reporting directly to the Advance Sourcing Manager whilst taking guidance from the Strategic Purchasing team operating in a Commodity group structure.
