Open Source License Compliance Analyst
Within Oracle Data Cloud (ODC), the Procurement & Compliance team encompasses all activities pertaining to the purchase or use of software tools, hardware, and services, mostly as they align to technology. The team is also responsible for assuring ODC’s use of Free and Open Source Software is done so within the acceptable limits of Oracle policy and relevant open source licenses. Work is non-routine, fast-pace, and may require challenging existing process and procedure to accomplish team goals.
This specific role will be laser focused on Open Source License Compliance within the ODC. This will include working with open source compliance software and home-grown tools to review, track, and process all licenses through corporate approval process. This role will require working closely with development team members, building and maintaining working relationships with interested parties throughout Oracle, and constantly improving the current processes in place to manage overall Open Source License Compliance.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Working with development teams to ensure legal and corporate policy compliance with all Open Source Licenses including reviewing/approving new requests for open source
Serving significant role in implementing open source license scanning software.
Generating and managing a baseline of open source license content for all existing and new ODC products.
Maintaining accurate lists of open source content and progress through corporate approvals process.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years professional experience, preferably in a software developer or support role.
BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Ability to quickly learn and understand corporate policies and how those policies apply to our specific technology stack.
Basic knowledge of common open source licensing issues.
Knowledge of multiple programming language and scripting environments.
Proficiency in MS Excel, O365 preferred.
Solid organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication, customer service, and negotiation skills.
Ability to multitask and self-manage prioritization.
Talent in negotiations and networking.
Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Provides programs to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance in support of the organization
- s financial and tactical business objectives. Provides business practices and processes. Develops, communicates, and trains the organization on business practices and processes.
Serve as a liaison with other divisions such as Finance, Contracts, HR, Legal, Shared Services, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, and Risk Management in an effort to ensure accurate and timely transaction processing. Collect, input, verify, correct, and analyze data to measure key performance indicator actual versus business objectives. Provide updates to management regarding budget to actual, informing them of deviations and opportunities. Provide management with economic impact and compliance issues surrounding key business decisions and/or deals. Communicate Oracle Business Practices to the organization and monitor process and approvals for full compliance. Drive implementation of new processes and procedures.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Attention to detail critical. Ability to collect, organize, and display data in spreadsheet format. Follow-through skills necessary to get information from internal and third parties and have data errors/omissions corrected. For this, relationship management skills strongly desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with management and possible clients desired. 5 plus years relevant work experience.
