This position is in the Global IT Enterprise – EMEA Network Security Operations team. We are looking for a Network Security Engineer.

Scope of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the support of devices from the following technologies:

  • Firewall

  • Load Balancer

  • Proxy Server

  • IPSec VPN

  • Array SSL VPN

  • Cisco AAA

In addition to a strong, enterprise-level, security and networking background, candidates should have the following:

  • Experience of supporting several of the above listed technologies, with firewalls an absolute must

  • Experience of working in a operations environment within a established SLA

  • Understanding of network technologies (routing & switching, OSPF, BGP)

  • Security and/or networking certifications

Additional Details

The Network Operations Security team is responsible to implement and operate the Network Security and Remote Access, supporting Oracle's environments in accordance with defined policies and controls. The EMEA Network Operations team it is part of a global operations support team.

Job Duties:

  1. Work closely with project teams to design and deliver security solutions

  2. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in a timely fashion

  3. Process customer requests in a timely manner

  4. Provide on-call support services as needed and lead others in complex situations

Basic Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years experience supporting network and network security technologies, especially Juniper Netscreen/SRX, Fortinet Firewalls, F5 Load balancers, Cisco and Juniper routers and switches, McAfee Web Gateways. In-depth knowledge of routing and switching.

  2. 3-5 years experience in operations roles.

  3. Experience performing regular capacity management functions for network and network security components.

  4. Capability to manage/work with other team members to ensure the coordinated resolution of incidents and efficient delivery of projects.

  5. 2 years experience as a backline escalation contact with demonstrated ability to quickly troubleshoot network and network security problems to root cause, to restore service and to identify long-term corrective and preventative actions.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

As part of the Network Services team within Oracle

  • s Global Information Technology organization, you will be responsible for the delivery of IT services to Oracle

  • s businesses worldwide, these services include the management and delivery of network infrastructure.

Maintain records of equipment failure and liaise with engineers and suppliers as necessary. Escalate client problems according to established procedures. Manage the network using network management tools, analyze network performance and discuss network enhancements with senior networking specialists. Analyze network performance to ensure adequate bandwidth for business needs. Recommend enhancements to the network infrastructure, and enhance proactive network management tool set. Troubleshoot network problems on the campus network, remote locations and countrywide area network though to resolution, occasionally with guidance from more experience staff, depending on the complexity. As a team member or with assistance from others perform project engineering including specification definition, design of solution in compliance with corporate standards, implementation, testing through to production. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in line with existing procedures and practices. Provide on-call support services as needed.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures. 2 years relevant experience and degree/diploma in computer science or IT discipline.
