Kaiser Permanente Cluster Center Licensed Optical Supervisor - Springfield Medical Center in Burke, Virginia
To supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of certified opticians, optician apprentices, and vision services assistants to ensure high quality service to members and staff.
Essential Functions:- Supervises assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining, evaluating, counseling, and terminating with approval of the Service Area Optical Manager of Vision Services, and in conformance with EEO/AA goals, personnel policies, and performance standards. Participates in career development.- Coordinates personnel issues to include but not limited to staffing at centers for leave and conflict resolution. Provides hands on support and guides staff through delegation of tasks, staff assignments and performance review.- Trains and educates staff regarding approved policies and procedures, SITUS, POSS system, and all OSHA requirements.- Ensures that all reports are completed and turned in on time, monitors cash handling procedures to insure they are followed and all funds are secured. Ensures that the VS Department checklist is completed and turned over to Service Area Optical Manager on a monthly basis.- Monitors quality of product to meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards and ensures that turnaround time has been met.- Addresses and resolves member complaints, concerns, and requests for information. Communicates member/staff interaction trends and problems to supervisors. Constantly evaluates ways to improve member/customer satisfaction and meet member/customer needs.- Acts as liaison between Service Area Manager, Optical Centers and Optical Lab.- Participates in setting of revenue targets and cost containment controls, reviewing with each center at direction of Director of Vision Services for compliance.- Participates under the direction of the Director of Vision Services and business project proposed for the department. Is actively involved in accessing community competition to include pricing, levels of service, and customer expectations concerning hours of operation.- Adheres to policy and procedures surrounding vision services physical inventory.- Coordinates the maintenance of supply levels to meet the needs of the department.- Serves as a supportive member of the Vision Services Management Team in providing caring, efficient, and quality vision services.- Performs other related duties as assigned.
This position involves floating to other centers in Northern Virginia, opening in 2019 to include Haymarket and Stafford.
This is a float position and will cover locations that have no supervisor support each day.
Basic Qualifications:Experience- Minimum five (5) years of experience as Optician required.Education- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.License, Certification, Registration- ABO certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.- Virginia Optician License in good standing with the State Board required. Additional Requirements:- Experience with personal computer required.- Demonstrated sales history required.- Proven written and oral communication skills required.- Demonstrated team building/team interaction skills required.- Proven drive for results; action oriented, and demonstrated initiative required.- Proven customer service skills required.- Demonstrated skills in organizing, prioritizing, and problem-solving required.- General knowledge of optical theory, optical practice, and national standards for accuracy and quality required.
Preferred Qualifications:- Contact Lens Certification and/or licensing preferred.- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
