PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

  • Develop software and software fixes to integrate internal systems. Ensure code quality, test and distribute code updates, and monitor the health and stability of the application and underlining infrastructure.

  • Uses tools to automate the development, testing, and integration of software releases/upgrades. Responsible for releasing new features across the program and making sure these releases are stable, continually monitors the system’s health and security once the updates are deployed.

  • Identifies changes that are necessary to maintain optimal system performance while liaising with management to successfully target and deploy solutions.

  • Guide the program through the process of creating dependable codebase and deployments and innovate the release/distribution practices.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and implement software integrations based on user feedback;

  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment;

  • Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines);

  • Analyze code and communicate detailed reviews to development teams to ensure a marked improvement in applications and the timely completion of projects;

  • Collaborate with team members to improve the program’s automation tools, systems and procedures, and data security;

  • Optimize the company’s computing architecture;

  • Conduct systems tests for security, performance, and availability;

  • Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation;

  • Deploy updates and fixes for CI/CD tools;

  • Provide Level 2 technical support for Pipeline tools;

  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience;

  • Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems;

  • Develop scripts to automate applications and drive quality;

  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant railway or PTC experience is an asset;

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a relevant discipline or equivalent Application development experience;

  • 4+ years experience as a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software-engineering role;

  • You are an expert in code deployment tools (Git/Bitbucket, Jira, TeamCity, Artifactory, Xray, Puppet, Ansible, Octopus and Chef);

  • You can maintain Java web applications (Spring Boot preferred);

  • Have experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring;

  • Possess a strong command of software-automation production systems (TeamCity, Jenkins and Selenium);

  • You exhibit expertise in software development methodologies;

  • Experience with agile development methodologies;

  • Knowledge of Ruby or Python (Scripting Languages) and known DevOps tools like Git and GitHub;

  • You have a working knowledge of databases and SQL (Structured Query Language);

  • You possess a problem-solving attitude;

  • Can work independently and as part of a team;

  • People leadership;

  • Coordinating / influencing;

  • Communicate and influence at all levels;

  • Possess a creative mindset that can think outside the box and find alternative and repeatable ways to solve problems;

  • Focused and detail oriented to spot any inaccuracies or provide improvement in processes.
