CP is seeking candidates for current and future openings as a valued member of our high performing Finance and Accounting team. Members of our team have the opportunity for continuous learning and application of finance and accounting skills across a broad set of corporate finance, planning, accounting, and reporting functions. You will work closely with the business and members of the management team to drive shareholder value directly.

Eligible candidates will work with one of the following teams:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop accurate revenue and expense forecasts, analyze investment alternatives, and provide financial insight, costing analysis, and valuations to drive results.

  • Corporate Accounting & Reporting: Responsible for the accurate accounting, analysis, and reporting of financial results both internally and externally. This includes accounting and reporting for revenues, regulatory economics, capital spend, operations, properties, corporate costs, and complex accounting areas.

  • Corporate Finance Functions: Support functional groups such as pensions, treasury, tax, internal controls, and business systems with pension asset and liability management, cash management, tax analysis and planning, development and testing of internal processes, and master data management and support.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or other relevant fields;

  • 0-3 years work experience (Analyst), 3-5 years work experience (Specialist)

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and/or finance (Specialist);

  • Advanced analytical skills, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel;

  • SAP and/or Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) experience is an asset;

  • Financial acumen and ability to practically apply financial principles & theories;

  • Strong organizational, time management, and relationship management skills;

  • Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting timelines/requirements;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Good communication skills;

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and

  • Willingness to provide and accept feedback.

CP FINANCE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Successful candidates may be placed into the CP Finance Internship Program. In this program, new employees will move through several roles within the Finance team over a period of months, building a wide range of experience, which will serve them well in their careers at CP. The length of each internship is variable, as the intent is to move employees into a permanent position when a suitable role becomes available. The internship program targets students who have recently completed their studies.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
