The Supervisor – Bid Award position will support the Maintenance of Way union staffing needs in the field through the Engineering bid-award process and emergency/urgent call-outs, and conduct labour research as needed.

*Please note this position is 3 months is length with the possibility of extension.


  • Manage bid-award application;

  • Award/communicate positions to Engineering Services;

  • Coordinate/organize data for bid-award process;

  • Report on data errors as they arise;

  • Develop and abide by bid-award schedule for all stakeholders;

  • Execute layoffs/recalls for both seasonal/temporary employees;

  • Perform callouts for emergency and non-emergency workforce needs;

  • Retrieve, organize, validate and summarize labour data (seniority, training, return to work etc.);

  • Maintain/update seniority lists.


  • Post-secondary education;

  • 5 years railway experience;

  • Working knowledge of SAP applications;

  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in the advanced use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly in the use of MS Excel;

  • Understanding of Engineering Field/Operations;

  • Understanding of Engineering collective agreements;

  • Ability to pay attention to detail;

  • Ability to understand and process information from various group;

  • Ability to work with a variety of people from the front line-employee to senior management with courtesy and integrity;

  • Proven ability to work well with others on an individual, team and project basis.
