Primary Role

Assist in the SEC reporting process and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations. This position is responsible for compiling and drafting accurate financial statements and disclosures for the Company’s periodic SEC filings (i.e. Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K, etc.), as well as other external/governmental reports and releases (i.e. annual subsidiary financial statements, governmental surveys, etc.). This position is also responsible for the monthly financial consolidation process. This position will work closely with Investor Relations, SEC General Counsel and the subsidiary Accounting and Finance leaders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drafts disclosures and compiles financial statements for various sections the Company’s SEC filings (i.e. Item 1-Business, Item 7-MD&A, Item 8-Financial Statements and Footnotes), ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.

  • Participates in the annual audit and the quarterly procedures performed by the Company’s external and internal auditors.

  • Provides technical guidance and expertise related to the interpretation and the application of accounting (US GAAP) standards and pronouncements and reporting (SEC) rules and regulations.

  • Interfaces with the State Finance and the Budgeting and Internal Reporting teams, ensuring financial reporting compliance.

  • Assists in the preparation and review of the Company’s annual subsidiary financial statements and governmental surveys.

  • Assists in the month-end close and the consolidation processes.

  • Analyzes financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the general ledger.

  • Assists the regulatory teams in fulfilling rate case requests and analyses for filings and/or other reporting requirement reports.

  • Assists in the refinement and maintenance of the accounting/financial policies, practices, internal controls and operating procedures to ensure the integrity of the Company’s internal control structure.

  • Directs special projects and initiatives.


  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations are necessary.

  • Knowledge and prior experience working with Microsoft AX, Oracle, SAP and Hyperion a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with a particular expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (i.e. pivot and look-up tables, etc.).

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively with upper management and external professionals (i.e. auditors).

  • Excellent analytical, systemic and problem solving skills, including the ability to lead/direct project teams/initiatives or effectively work independently.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on initiative, knowledge sharing, team building and decision making.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Four to eight years of relevant (accounting and reporting) experience required.

  • Knowledge and experience with SEC reporting required.

  • CPA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Prior public accounting (“Big 4”) and/or large, multi-subsidiary company experience a strong preference.

  • Prior experience working in the utility industry and knowledge of regulatory accounting a plus.
