The Insurance Claims Representative will diligently monitor pending casualty claims within their assigned territory, and facilitate the collection of facts, evidence, witness identification and circumstances by state operations managers and/or supervisors for property damage General Liability and Auto claims and other casualty losses occurring within his/her designated region for his/her report to the 3rd party insurance carrier/claims administrator (hereinafter “insurer”).
Assist state operations managers and supervisors with data collection for reporting accidents to the insurer including:
Verify accuracy of customer report through SAP.
Utilize insurer’s Online or Telephone Claim Reporting forms in preparation for initial accident notification to the insurer.
Identify organization (location) code of local operations site to be included in report.
Document insurer claim number and insurer adjuster contact information.
Assist in the handling of low to moderate exposure Auto Liability & Property Damage Claims (First & Third Party) and low to moderate exposure Non-Litigated General Liability Property Damage Claims (Third Party).
Confirm that all accident information and initial claim investigation documentation is completed in a timely manner and promptly forwarded to the insurer.
Prepare reports as needed or as requested by the Director of Risk Management and/or the Insurance Claims Manager.
Identify, monitor and comply with local jurisdictional responsibilities, updates, incidents, and exposures.
Ability to work within a team setting, together with other claims personnel, as one unit.
Access insurer’s online claims management data base in responding to customer, operations managers, and human resources inquiries regarding claims status.
General completion of other claims related activities as assigned by the Director of Risk Management and/or the Insurance Claims Manager.
Demonstrate an understanding of casualty insurance policies coverage, terms, conditions and exclusions including Commercial General Liability, Business Auto Liability, Workers Compensation and Umbrella Excess Liability.
Knowledge of Property, Pollution, and other insurance a bonus. Knowledge of insurance claims management process.
Knowledge of water utility and related services business risks preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft products and knowledge of SAP and CRM.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in computer skills, (MS Excel, Word & Claims Data Base) as well as the ability to remain highly organized and work diligently within a high-volume claim count.
Bachelor's level degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience required.
Min. 3 years’ Experience in customer service or Claims Representative within an insurance company, insurance broker or corporate risk management claims organization.
Licenses & Certifications
Associate in Claims (AIC) is preferred, but not required
