Primary Role

This role is responsible for requirements analysis and detailed design of business processes in the one or more functional domains, for configuration and testing of SAP applications, and for related deployment activities; Analyzing and documenting requirements and design solutions for the business process scenarios ;deploying the technology solution in order to fulfill business requirements, including design frameworks, documentation and proof of concept needs while adhering to documentation, configuration, security, development, and testing standards and guidelines.

This includes:

  • Creating functional and technical specifications

  • Ensuring proper set up of roles and authorizations

  • Configuration build and testing

  • Establishing the configuration related to organizational structure, business process, and master data

  • Technical development of RICEFW(s), specific composite, and/or mobile applications

  • Ensuring functional correctness by testing the integration of the solution with other applications

  • Provide for day to day maintenance of approved security roles defined in the applications

  • Analyze existing custom developments , objects , modifications and evaluate the impact of changes

  • Provide input for the set-up and creation of individual transports

Key Accountabilities

Technology Roadmap Development:

  • Drive the effort to develop plans that match short-term and long-term business goals with specific technology solutions to help meet those goals. The plan applies to a new product or process or to an emerging technology.

  • Working with the line of business leaders and industry experts, ensure the plans help 1) reach a consensus about a set of needs and the technologies required to satisfy those needs, 2) provide a mechanism to help forecast technology developments, and 3) provide a framework to help plan and coordinate technology developments."

Team Development:

  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.

  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.

  • Perform as a team of strategic, creative, and technical professionals who partner with our clients to solve business problems and meet meaningful business goals.

Technology Expertise:

  • Act as an expert in a particular field of knowledge [this may be a business/functional area and/or a particular technology] and provide detailed information and advice as necessary in that specialization in order to achieve business outcomes.

  • Develop and/or promote technical solutions which support the business requirements within their area of expertise. Be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to software or web development and/or support.

  • As needed, lead the technical activity within their area of specialization.

Product Owner Support:

  • Support the Head of Technology Enablement/Customer Enablement in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.

  • Engage closely with clients to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through technology enablement and then work with the Customer Enablement team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong knowledge of digital technologies and some applicability for the water and wastewater industries

  • Expertise with a small set of interdisciplinary technology specialities [e.g. data, mobility, GIS, collaboration, infrastructure] and/or deep knowledge of a particular speciality area

  • Demonstrated ability to apply these technology specialities to solve practical problems in a high-tech development environment with multifunction teams for small to medium, complex systems with some guidance.

  • Ability to gather and analyze internal business requirements by means of interviews, workflow analyses and facilitated discussions with users.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into detailed functional designs for development, testing and implementation.

  • Configure SAP modules in line with design requirements as well as peer review designs / configuration from other Functional Analysts in the SAP area

  • Ability to identify and communicate risks and issues affecting business rules, functional requirements and specifications.

  • Ability to create and maintain testing scripts in SAP Solution Manager.

  • Experience with creating training materials and assisting with user orientation and training.

  • Ability to serve as a liaison between technical, quality assurance and non-technical stakeholders throughout the development and deployment process.

  • Expertise in configuration related to SAP Time Management , CATS, Time Evaluation schema with clock times, Payroll SAP industry templates and best practices

  • Expertise I configuration of Gross to Net Payroll Processing, Payroll Earnings/deductions, Bonus Payments, 401k, Stock purchase Plans, Garnishments, Arrears Processing, Taxes including BSI Tax Factory, Cyclic and TUBS updates, Claims Processing, Off-cycle workbench, year-end processing etc.

  • Strong knowledge of CATS, Time Evaluation schema with clock times, with very complex union rules, overtime, shift premiums, call-in/out, Absence Quotas etc.

  • Subject matter expertise in HCM area using SAP Time Management and Payroll modules

  • Strong Knowledge of HCM PA/OM/Benefits/Compensation/LOA and related integration to Time Management and Payroll modules

  • Knowledge of 3rd Party Applications ADP, Merrill Lynch etc. for integration

  • Good aptitude for building data analytics using industry leading tools like Power BI, Tableau etc.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Good verbal , written and presentation skills Should be a self-starter with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a keen desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge

  • Good Collaboration, prioritization and team working skills Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment with virtual teams

  • A passion for working on projects where there is some element of unknown and ambiguity

Experience / Education

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or similar technology field is required [equivalent work experience will be considered].

  • Appropriate technical certification in speciality area preferred.

  • 2+ years experience working in the technology field required.

  • Experience with the water utility industry is highly desired, but not required.

  • 7 to 10 years of experience with SAP configuration and support in the Time Management, CATS, Time Evaluation (with clock times), and Payroll Gross/Net Processing and Accounting with at least two full lifecycle SAP implementations

  • 7+ years’ experience in SAP functional domain

  • 3+ years’ experience in Suite on HANA

  • SAP Certification will be a big plus
