Primary Role

This position will be a key member of American Water’s SAP Center of Excellence within the Technology and Innovation business group . The Senior Technologist – SAP Platform will be responsible for providing system engineering for the SAP solution landscape and completing system builds, upgrades and enhancements for the SAP environment and ecosystem.

Key Accountabilities

Technology Roadmap Development

Drive the effort to develop plans that match short-term and long-term business goals with specific technology solutions to help meet those goals. The plan applies to a new product or process or to an emerging technology.

Working with the line of business leaders and industry experts, ensure the plans help 1) reach a consensus about a set of needs and the technologies required to satisfy those needs, 2) provide a mechanism to help forecast technology developments, and 3) provide a framework to help plan and coordinate technology developments. 20%

Team Development

Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.

Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.

Technology Expertise

Develop and/or promote technical solutions which support the business requirements within their area of expertise. Be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to software or web development and/or support.

Product Owner Support

Support the Head of Technology Enablement/Customer Enablement in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.

Engage closely with clients to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through technology enablement and then work with the Customer Enablement team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life. 20%

Knowledge / Skills

Knowledge:

Strong understanding of the HANA platform.

Sound knowledge of architecting cloud based workloads for SAP.

Sound knowledge of Solution Manager ChaRM and OCC configuration and administration with 7.2 highly desired.

Strong understanding of SAP ALM and Operations methodologies in an environment using SAP Solution Manager with ChaRM and Operation Control Center.

Proficient with application administration and troubleshooting in a Red Hat Linux and Windows environment.

Knowledge of ITIL standards as well as Sox compliance requirements.

Skills:

Ability to perform system build, upgrade activities, and platform migrations across the SAP eco-system.

Ability to create and maintain documentation of administration procedures and the SAP technical architecture in accordance with SAP CoE certification requirements.

Skilled in SAP performance troubleshooting and tuning.

Sound understanding of ABAP and JAVA based SAP technology platforms as well as integration with cloud based products.

Ability to drive landscape improvements and operational efficiency of the SAP environment through continuous innovation as well as the problem management process.

Skilled in the management of monitoring infrastructure (agent versions, patches).

Experience:

7 plus years of experience supporting a wide variety of SAP applications and technology components such as SAP CRM, ECC, BW, SRM, GRC, BusinessObjects, NetWeaver Portal, Process Orchestration, Gateway/Fiori, LVM, Web Dispatcher and HANA.

Prior experience working within a certified SAP CoE is desired.

Experience with S/4HANA is a plus.

Education:

BS /MS in Computer Science , Computer Applications , Information Technology , Engineering or MBA or with strong academic background.

Licenses & Certifications

ITIL and SAP Certification will be a big plus
