Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of the Finance team, providing analysis and insights relating to logistic costs. This position is ideal for the professional who is looking for an opportunity for career growth and wanting to add value to a fast-growing organization.
The successful candidate will:
Perform variance analysis for inbound and outbound freight to assist management in decision making or other financial initiatives.
Investigate inbound & outbound freight variances, analyze trends and provide explanation to management.
Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual logistics reports.
Play a key role in the monthly forecast and annual budgeting process for logistics, performing analysis and providing commentary on all major changes.
Perform the logistics month end general ledger close activities which includes compiling and analyzing financial information for entry to the general ledger.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations on general ledger accounts, and balance discrepancies.
Perform periodic review of transportation EDI payments for GRIR clearing, duplicate payments and review customer logistic deductions for validity.
Provide back-up support to the Senior Financial Analyst responsible for Transfer Price Costs (TPC) and Purchase Price Variances (PPV).
Lead and participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to gain efficiencies.
Make recommendations on improving established policies and procedures and implement changes.
Document standard operating procedures.
Participate in SOX testing and process review.
Liaise with internal and external auditors. Respond to inquiries, information and reports.
Provide support in various analytical initiatives, cost saving projects and any other ad hoc projects as requested.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
Professional Accounting Designation – CPA
Solid knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
Experience in a Consumer Packaged goods and logistics environment
Strong analytical skills with ability to present data in a meaningful way and make recommendations
In-depth knowledge of preparing and analyzing account reconciliations
Ability to think critically and recommend ideas for improvement of existing policies and practices
Proven problem solving skills and the ability to implement solutions
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines
Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented
SAP and BPC experience is an asset
Proficiency in Excel and MS Work
