Senior Systems Engineer - Security Clearance Required
This is a technical delivery position based in Canberra
reporting to Oracle’s Advanced Customer Services (ACS) Delivery Manager. As a technical member of Oracle's ACS Delivery organisation, provide technical delivery
for the successful delivery and implementation of complex, system solutions.
The position may have the technical responsibility for developing architectures
and detailed designs for a wide range of system solutions to meet defined
customer requirements. It also requires hands-on involvement during system
implementation to ensure that the appropriate level of technical oversight and
compliance to design standards is met.
This role is typically part of an Oracle project delivery team working engagements with the Department of Defence and may involve working
independently on several sites. In addition, there may be a requirement to
provide technical consulting to Oracle's partners and suppliers. Occasional
interstate travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Develops and implements technical systemssolutions and ensures that customer requirements are met and that the solutionis deployed in accordance with Oracle's best practices;
Has the responsibility for analysing customerrequirements and recommending appropriate system design solutions;
Conducts system health checks, monitors systemperformance, implements upgrades and patches and may be assigned to the role ofProactive Support Engineer to major customers;
Works closely with customers’ project andimplementation teams to identify potential areas for technical improvements,system enhancements and discrete tranches of work that can be implemented todeliver defined business benefits for the customer;
Acts as a technical conduit into Oracle’sinternal resources and support systems to assist in resolving complex technicalproblems;
Works with limited supervision in conductingassessments and analyses of technical problems and provides recommendations forresolution or corrective action;
May be the lead technical advisor on those projectsto which they are assigned;
May be assigned as a trusted advisor to Oracle'scustomers and partners.
Skills and Competencies:
Minimum of five years experience in a similartechnical role;
Sound technical skills and experience with arange of technologies including Solaris 10/11 OS, Sunservers and file systems, cluster software, system management tools,proprietary switches and network hardware;
Experience with virtualisation technologies,system consolidation and data centre system deployments;
Sound knowledge of TCP-IP protocols;
Sound experience with storage and backuptechnologies (Backup management technologies, Tape libraries, SAN, NAS, RAID);
Experience with Sun Oracle Hardware (T4 / T5, MSeries, Super Cluster, Exadata, Exalogic, ODA), tape storage products (SL8500),ZS storage appliances and tape storage management software (ACSLS).
Experience with implementing Solaris clusteringfor DR and HA applications;
Experience in developing complex systems integrationprojects such as server consolidations, software upgrades, applicationmigrations and network design;
Capable of acting as a technical team leader forbusiness requirements gathering, architecture and design through toimplementation and deployment;
Provide technical assistance to Oracle's ProjectManagers in developing implementation and deployment strategies for complexsystems solutions;
Assume responsibility for the management andresolution of technical issues arising from solution implementations;
Provide technical assistance, as appropriate,during the development of large Proposals and Tender responses and thedevelopment of complex project plans;
Display high levels of energy and drive withstrong business acumen, process orientation and excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills;
Ability to prioritise workload to meet projectdeadlines;
A Defence Clearance to TS-PV is mandatory;
A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will interface with the customer
s IT staff on a regular basis. Either at the client
s site or from a remote location, you will be responsible for resolution of moderately complex technical problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use and repair/workarounds for Oracle products. You should be highly experienced in some Oracle products and several platforms that are being supported. You will be expected to work with only general guidance from management while advising management on progress/status.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Because of substantial customer interfacing, a demonstrated ability to work with customers on an independent basis with exceptional communication skills, while consistently achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction is essential. A Bachelor
s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred with five years related experience. Experience with Oracle
s core products, applications, and tools is important.
