Job Description

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated candidate for the Staff Scientist position in R&D, Cell Biology. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development, production, and improvement of antibody detection IVD products. The candidate is expected to have a broad spectrum of technical working knowledge in mammalian cell culture, protein expression and characterization, flow cytometry, cell line generation, and cell banking with scientific rigor in a regulatory environment. Experiences in assay development characterizing antibody-antigen interactions are highly desired. Skills in instrumentation and software applications are additional assets.

How will you make an impact?

The Staff Scientist serves as a technical lead to explore new technologies and identify creative and robust solutions to overcome current technological limitations in Ab detection products for HLA or other relevant target genes. This role will be under the guidance of R&D Manager and R&D Sr. Manager.

What will you do?

  • Improve cell line generation process and cell culture workflow to increase yield and quality of recombinant antigens.

  • Establish and characterize antigen expression from transformed native cell lines.

  • Characterize cell line and cell bank including clonality, identity, growth, expression and stability.

  • Establish stable cell lines including vector design and construction, transfection, stable pool generation, FACS enrichment, single cell cloning and screening, candidate clone selection, cell expansion, and cell banking.

  • Develop assays that characterize antigen expression and quality preferably at an earlier stage in the workflow.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to support and troubleshoot antigen production.

  • Acquire expertise in One Lambda products, software and instrument.

  • Collaborate with other R&D groups to develop new products and improve existing products.

  • Initiate studies or investigations to improve current cell line generation and antigen production processes under the guidance of Cell Biology manager.

  • Assist the management of lab operations and perform lab duties including instrument maintenance, calibration and qualification, ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and supporting Cell Biology functions in general.

  • Participate in project planning and execution, generating reports, and presenting findings in group and R&D meetings.

  • Perform all activities in compliance with GDP/GLP/GMP, regulatory and company safety policies.

How will you get here?

Education / Experience

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics or a related discipline in Biological Sciences AND minimal 2 years of postdoctoral experience, preferably in the development of therapeutics or diagnostics.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein expression

  • Proficiency in flow cytometry software, database and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills

  • Ability to perform multi-tasks and manage priorities to meet company goals

  • Strong problem-solving skills, identifying root causes, and proposing alternative approaches and possible solutions

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group setting to meet timelines

  • Flexibility and adaptability in working in a highly dynamic and demanding environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • R&D experience in either biotech or pharmaceutical industry

  • Ability to lead projects and coordinate with multiple functional areas

  • Hands-on experiences in molecular biology, protein expression and characterization, process development and optimization, and assay development.

  • Familiarity with multicolor flow cytometry

  • Inventory management
