Job Description

The role of the Business Development Manager is to identify, prioritize and execute revenue synergy inititiatives for the Digital Science business unit. This role will play a critical part in connecting Thermo Fisher products through our digital science strategy and providing more compelling solutions to our customers. The ideal candidate is someone who can collaborate across business unit boundaries and manage cross-functional teams. The Business Development Manager will need to have a strong background in life science R&D, scientific software and commercial execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the syngery target for the Digital Science business unit through collaboration with other Thermo Fisher businesses.

  • Identify potential applications where Digital Science’s software could benefit other Thermo Fisher businesses to address customer pain points through market research.

  • Drive the strategic prioritization of the potential synergy opportunities to maximize revenue and support EBITA expansion.

  • Collaborate and partner with other Thermo Fisher businesses to establish synergy programs.

  • Coordinate with the global commercial team to drive BU to BU connections and lead sharing incentive programs between Digital Science and other business units.

  • Identify opportunities for launching existing product capabilities into new opportunities and build business cases for product and application development

  • Drive communication of Digital Science product value propositions within Thermo Fisher through iConnect and other means, based on a deep understanding of the Platform’s functional and non-functional capabilities.

  • Work with marketing to deliver content describing the complete workflow between the Platform and other Thermo Fisher capabilities.

  • Track key performance indicators for marketing and sales integration activities and report out to leadership on our progress.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in software sales or marketing.

  • Understanding of life science R&D workflows.

  • Possesses extensive business, technical, and procedural knowledge in order to define the budget and staffing required to execute complex development projects.

  • Experience working with the STRAP and STRAP deployment process including the X-Matrix and A3s.

  • Experience working with senior leaders, customers and an international team.

  • Experience setting strategic direction and priorities.

  • Ability to formulate and present persuasive presentations and proposals.

  • Experience working with cross functional teams including Marketing, Product Management, Services, Support, QA and Commercial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the IMO to manage and track revenue and cost synergy targets.

  • 10+ years experience in an applicable business domain.

  • Experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific products, processes, and business drivers.

  • Experience with software design principles and methodologies.

  • Familiarity and experience with Cloud Computing concepts including SAAS.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • A college degree, preferably related to engineering, software development, or science.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with technical and executive audiences.

  • Strong financial acumen.

  • Strong understanding of market needs in applicable business domain.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in global personnel management.

  • Ability to travel 25-50%.
