We are seeking a creative, motivated, scientist to join our Molecular Biology R&D team to drive the development of innovative exome sequencing products.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Plan, execute and analyze experiments to develop innovative exome sequencing product(s) for the Illumina platform to include traditional exomes, and other targets of interest.
Apply publically available bioinformatics tools and pipelines for data analysis and interface with the bioinformatics team for custom analysis, to drive product development.
Performs experiments with minimal guidance and prepares a summary for presentation to the team.
Research and demonstrate the feasibility of new target enrichment methodologies, maintaining a high level of expertise in this area to provide expert support to the broader scientific team.
Collaborates with teammates and other internal functions (marketing, program management, product management) to drive development, implement new product opportunities, prioritize projects and execute within timelines.
Participates in laboratory and company improvement projects.
Minimum of BS and 6 yrs of experience, MS and 4 yrs of experience or Ph.D. with 2 yrs of experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field.
Experience with exome sequencing, target enrichments methodologies, and Illumina NGS platforms.
Experience with multiplex PCR (100s of targets - primer design and optimization) and amplicon based NGS library prep/target enrichment.
Experience with bioinformatics tools and pipelines for exome data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve difficult problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret and summarize scientific results in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Must be organized and keep clear records of experiments and data.
Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative within a multi-discipline team and contribute to a supportive and positive work environment.
Industry experience developing exome sequencing product(s) and target enrichment methodologies.
Bioinformatics Data analysis skills with a proven track record in the interpretation of next-generation sequencing data.
Bioinformatics tools for target enrichment design.
