Position Summary and Key Responsibilities

The principal objective of the Senior DRP Planner is to ensure that we have the correct inventory available of finished goods in the correct place at the correct time, while optimizing inventory levels with regards to backorders and stock write offs. This should be achieved by establishing KPI’s alongside implementation of continuous process improvements, improved data integrity, solid operating mechanisms and close collaboration with key partners along the global supply chain.

This position interacts with all levels of internal personnel requiring strong oral and written communication skills. Effectiveness in this role also requires functional knowledge of corporate operations. The job encounters recurring work situations of diverse scope and moderate to high complexity with frequent variations from the norm. It requires the ability to quickly respond to changing needs by reallocating and/or managing resources accordingly. Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors in work could result in significant production delays, insufficient or overstocked inventory levels, additional costs, and dissatisfied customers.

This position requires the ability to motivate others and set operational objectives daily. Provides guidance to other exempt level personnel and may provide direct supervision. This position has contact with all levels of company employees within various internal departments.

This position exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies. Selects methods and techniques of obtaining solutions to problems of relatively routine to diverse scope and moderate to highly complexity, requiring analysis of identifiable factors.

This position performs assignments independently with instructions from management limited to results expected. Able to manage and prioritize own time. Provides feedback and periodic updates to managers on status of goal/project assignments.

  • Place orders with intercompany suppliers

  • Manage existing open orders vs. Business Requirements: Cancels and Defers

  • Delegate any ad hoc ordering requests as required

  • Ensure day to day focus on backorders, coaching team on root cause analysis and prevention

  • Lead weekly backorder review meeting; when appropriate, escalate backorder issues to DRP Manager

  • Participate in Global operating mechanisms to improve order fulfillment

  • Perform Daily Backorder updates, including all relevant information (e.g. reason codes)

  • Liaise with production planners to identify earliest possible supply date

  • Provide delivery dates to Customer Service

  • Look for opportunities to clear backorders through e.g. alternative warehouse, alternative products and direct shipping

  • Manage discontinued or aged backorders on a routine basis

  • Lead Lifecycle Management process to identify products with too much inventory, products approaching expiration, slow moving products, in order to optimize inventory, reducing backorders and write offs

  • Lead quarterly stocking strategy review

  • Implement a departmental inventory reduction opportunity tracker

  • Lead monthly write off meeting, coaching team on root cause analysis and prevention

  • Liaise with Demand Planning Analysts and lead abnormal demand reviews to proactively ensure safety stocks and forecasts reflect changing demand patterns

  • Lead and Participate in cross functional improvement and new acquisition integration projects

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Educated to Degree level

  • Knowledge of supply chain and MRP/DRP systems is essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in distribution or production planning, scheduling, inventory control, logistics, and material management

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) process and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) process. Minimum of 2 years’ experience performing inventory management utilizing an MRP system is an absolute requirement

  • Familiar with the concepts of demand/pull, replenishment, and the basic principles of inventory management (turns, cost to serve, etc.)

  • APICS (or equivalent) certification preferred

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written

  • Solid Problem Solving Skills

  • Sound Decision Making Capabilities

  • Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others.

  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast past environment.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines

  • Must be detailed-oriented.

  • Some travel (10%) may be required
