Thermo Fisher Scientific's Information Technology department is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst at our Carlsbad, CA site as part of our IT Global Operations group. The individual will support our MES (Manufacturing Execution System) projects across various sites and business divisions.
This role will work closely with Manufacturing Operations and with other IT application teams as needed to ensure that the business goals are met. Additionally, they will serve as an SME and a key contributor, constantly interacting and communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues. This individual will be involved in project execution, requirements gathering, and will have the opportunity to apply technical skills where deemed beneficial.
Create and present functional and technical requirements to business and IT teams
Analyze problems/projects to identify scope and root cause and then document the outcomes
Work with various users at all levels - IT Teammates, Business Managers, Executives and end users to plan and offer solutions, participate in the system and process design, and manage expectations and progress.
Discover functional dependencies and help make recommendations on system/business solutions to mitigate risk
Facilitate review sessions with functional owners and end-user representatives
Be the go-to-person - Subject matter expert (SME) for IT on all projects under their responsibility
Work with our IT Project Managers to manage large projects from beginning to successful rollout
Act as IT PM on smaller projects and enhancement projects
Operate in a SCRUM environment
5+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst or similar role
Experience working in Agile/Scrum team
Strong understanding of development SDLC
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; attention to detail is crucial
Strong business acumen and ability to assess benefits versus costs to make critical decisions
Ability to work as a team member and contribute to the overall success of a team as well as work independently and handle multiple tasks
Ability to tear down complex problems into smaller components
PMI Certification/Agile Scrum Certification is preferred
Experience with cloud architecture using AWS or Azure
Technical knowledge a plus (front-end, back-end, etc.)
Thorough understanding and ability to use source control / configuration management tools (Git, SVN, etc.)
Experience with MES systems a plus
Exposure to ITIL incident management is a plus
Life Science industry background is a plus
