We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Compressor Technician based in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the operation, surveillance, and troubleshooting of oilfield compressors. Candidates must be able to relieve other Equipment Technicians, respond to callouts and work assigned weekends.

Responsibilities will also include the following:

  • Validating and inputting compressor readings and downtime

  • Track health of equipment by reviewing compressor/engine temperatures and pressures

  • Developing and executing preventative maintenance programs for the compressors

  • Take and track inventory for spare compressor parts

  • Troubleshoot compressor/engine down codes and implement fixes

  • Coordinating compressor outages with Operations personnel

  • Reporting spills and leaks

  • Initiating process for major equipment repairs


  • 5 years Compression experience, with a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors & the public

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety (personal safety, co-workers, contractors and the public)

  • Experience with reciprocating compression (Ariel Preferred)

  • Experience working with Caterpillar Engines 3400s, 3500s, 3600s

  • Must have valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of surface equipment and the system effects upstream and downstream of the compressors.

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform root cause failure analysis

  • Ability to repair minor mechanical problems

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and to participate in root cause failure analysis

  • Capable of basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment

  • Competent in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)

Additional Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D.

  • Oilfield operations experience preferred
