Verizon Business Continuity Manager - Supplier Risk and External Information in Cary, North Carolina

What you’ll be doing...

Individual will lead Supplier Risk Management and External Information related activities for the Business Continuity program, and support other internal planning activities. Primary responsibilities are to:

  • Lead Business Continuity-related aspects of Supplier Risk Management (SRM) program, including project management, providing direction to supporting personnel, resolving risks with the supplier and internal teams, and escalating issues as needed.

  • Lead the identification and assessment to validate critical aspects of critical Verizon and supplier operations (i.e., business functions, technology systems, primary facilities, and other third-parties), including conducting risk assessments of these operations.

  • Provide consultative feedback to the program team on a wide variety of topics both internally and externally to ensure the SRM program reduces operational risks to Verizon and our suppliers.

  • Lead Business Continuity External Information activities by responding to requests for information from external organizations, monitoring the Customer Portal, and interfacing with other departments as needed to review and approve external information.

  • Lead the identification and assessment of preventative measures to minimize the likelihood of a disruption to operations, and coordinate implementation of these measures with the appropriate departments and suppliers.

  • Manage personnel assigned to Supplier Risk Management project team, and other indirect reporting relationships.

  • Develop and deliver training programs for internal and supplier teams to increase awareness of Business Continuity activities and expectations, and to reduce risks to the business.

  • Lead designated aspects of the Business Continuity program activities, by supporting plan development, plan updates, and conducting rigorous tests that validate both internal team and supplier capabilities.

  • Lead designated aspects of the Business Continuity outreach activities, which may include the creation and delivery of presentations to key customers, interacting with relevant federal, state and local government emergency management agencies, and by presenting at regional and national industry conferences.

  • Support internal teams and suppliers during actual incident responses, to include deployment for on-site support, as appropriate.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Willingness to travel and be on-call if necessary.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business continuity, business, or technical field; or equivalent work experience.

  • MBA, or Master’s Degree in related field.

  • 5+ years of project management experience. Demonstrated excellent ability to plan, organize and direct the efforts of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response programs. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in an ever-changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to present concepts and key messages to small and large audiences, and to senior management.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current BC/DR planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk analyses, business impact analyses, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan development and plan testing.

  • Highly seasoned professional with sound management judgment and strong verbal and written communication skills, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information.

  • Strong facilitation and client-service skills. Ability to interact and influence outcomes at all levels of the Company, including local business units and senior management.

  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment, in challenging situations, with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external resources. Management of multiple location and departmental issues through partnering and solid business relationships.

  • Strong analytical and independent thought process to assess abstract circumstances and manage independently.

  • Effective team player that can resolve conflict and offer win-win solutions to complex business challenges.

  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • 3+ years of consulting experience, leading key aspects of business continuity, disaster recovery, or emergency response consulting projects at large corporate or government organizations.

  • Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or equivalent accreditation.

  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management or supply chain risk management.

  • Working knowledge of industry leading GRC tools and business continuity software systems.

  • Working knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the ability to develop a clear understanding of the company’s key functional processes and resources.

  • Previous background as an emergency responder or incident coordinator.
