What you’ll be doing...
We are looking for a Data Engineer who is ready, willing and able to work on a portfolio of innovative projects to enable digital operational excellence in Verizon Business Group (VBG) Customer Operations. The program direction includes artificial intelligence, operations automation, and industry leading omnichannel technology to improve the efficiency and client experience of our services. The Data Engineer will be using critical thinking skills to analyze a global network operations environment to transform data into actionable intelligence. They will build data tools and products for effort automation and easy data accessibility. They will diagnose existing architecture and data maturity and identify gaps. They will provide data access and enhance quality of the overall data structures feeding the data science program.
The Data Engineer needs to be highly analytical and can transform complex data into easily understood actionable information. They flourish in a fast-paced environment and can quickly adapt to changing priorities. They have exceptional critical thinking skills and like to uncover solutions. They are flexible, dependable and work well individually and as part of a team.
Gather requirements, assess gaps and build roadmaps and architectures to help the analytics driven organization achieve its goals.
Works closely with Data Analysts to ensure data quality and availability for analytical modeling.
Explore suitable options and designs for specific analytical solutions.
Define extract, transform and load (ELT) based on jointly defined requirements.
Identify gaps and implement solutions for data security, quality and automation of processes.
Support maintenance, bug fixes and performance analysis along data pipeline.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four years work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience using SQL, PL/SQL or T-SQL with RDBMSs like Teradata, MS SQL Server, Oracle etc. in production environments.
Experience in data engineering, databases and data warehouses.
Experience with reporting and BI packages such as Tableau, QlikView, SAP BO.
Even better if you have:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, IT, or relevantfield.
Experience working in a network operations center environment.
Experience on Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Spark, HBase, CouchDB, Hive).
Experience with programming languages like UNIX shell scripting, or Python.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
