Olympus America Inc. Field Service Engineer - Microscopy in Center Valley, Pennsylvania
Provide onsite system installation, maintenance and repair within an assigned geographical area or as required.
With no onsite supervision, conduct repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance, and system installations.
Support in-house operations as required.
Ensure timely, professional, and effective response to customer service needs to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Submit required field based documentation in a timely and accurate manner such as Customer Database Reports, Expense Reports, Calendar Entries, Installation Checklists, Countermeasure forms and Quality issue reporting in accordance with Managements directives and Olympus corporate guidelines.
Establish and maintain open communication with the supervisor, other FSEs and the product support organization within Olympus to resolve all undefined or ongoing customer support problems.
Maintain responsibility for online booking of all travel arrangements within corporate financial guidelines.
Assist other Field Service Engineers and Sales Representatives with product installations, trade shows, demonstrations and other events as required.
Proactively works within the region to support key accounts and other customers as required.
Maintain responsibility for all service parts requested by or assigned to the FSE.
Manage inventory in accordance with established requirements.
Maintain employee training requirements through structured corporate training programs, on the job training, study of Olympus marketing materials, sales brochures and available self-study programs.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent education or experience is required; OR, a Bachelor's Degree in physics or laser spectroscopy may be considered; OR an Advanced Degree (Master or Ph.D. or postdoc) in Physics, Spectroscopy, Microscopy, Engineering or equivalent education may be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum of 4 years related work experience directly associated with Olympus or Olympus competitor’s microscope systems with expert level of electro-opto-mechanical and computer skills are required.
Must have capability and experience with repairing complex microscope systems in a research environment.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal are preferred.
Must have demonstrated decision making ability toward solving problems, while working under pressure and effectively communicate these solutions to coworkers and customers.
Must have demonstrated ability to timely manage multiple requests for resources from both internal and external customers.
Ability to use electronic test equipment is necessary.
Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and have high-degree of personal organization.
Must be able to work flexible hours to include occasional short notice overtime and weekend work.
Must be able to travel via air and automobile, including overnight travel and occasional short notice travel, within 24 hour notice.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
New York/New Jersey - The Field Service Engineer III has expert microscopy product knowledge and demonstrated capability to troubleshoot in laboratory work. The incumbent must have strong work experience with mechanical, electrical, or optical equipment repair. After initial training, requires minimal supervision. He/She must be capable of providing an expert level of service and support for the entire Olympus product line. The incumbent may be assigned a mentoring role to work closely with a Level I or II Field Service Engineer to ensure effective training and development of that employee. He/She requires increased job knowledge through specialized classroom and self-study training. The incumbent is routinely involved in high level technical meetings to insure proper attention is given to all details of the sales support effort.
