Wells Fargo Technology sets IT strategy; enhances the design, development, and operations of our systems; optimizes the Wells Fargo infrastructure footprint; provides information security; and enables continuous banking access through in-store, online, ATM, and other channels to Wells Fargo’s more than 70 million global customers.

Information Security (IS) has the Information Security Education and Awareness team responsible for developing and supporting companywide IS Education and Awareness initiatives. The Education and Awareness team executes the requirements in the Workforce Accountability Policy.

The Operational Risk Consultant will:

• Create companywide information security related control documentation, education material, and awareness content.

• Monitor results of IS education activities to analyze learning and identify where additional education is required.

• Facilitate on-site courses and events covering defined IS functions and domains.

• Maintain knowledge of emerging risk to develop IS awareness to meet the changing risk environment.

• Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.

• May provide oversight to an operational risk program.

• Works with complex business units and provides operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk.

• May provide systems security consulting on complex issues.

• Designs and develops testing strategies, methodologies and analyses; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyzes business and/or system changes to determine impact, identifies and assesses operational risk issues and assigns risk ratings consistent with established policy standards.

• Consults with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manages change.

• Identifies training opportunities; designs or coordinates the development of training materials delivers or coordinates training delivery.

• Reports findings and develops business cases to influence senior management on the need for controls to mitigate risk.

• Manages or coordinates production of periodic operational risk performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies.

• Manages project teams and may provide guidance to less experienced consultants.

•May directly manage 1-2 specialists or consultants.

• Assist with creating control documentation, developing remediation plans, and reporting controls. This includes:

• Facilitate continuous process improvement based on analysis to drive overall process maturity.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • 5+ years of information security experience

  • 2+ years of experience in information security risk management or technology risk management

  • 3+ years of communications experience

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • 5+ years of information security experience

  • 4+ years of communications experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of information security operations

  • Knowledge and understanding of information security principles, policies, and procedures

  • Strong attention to detail, including accuracy in grammar and a sharp focus on eliminating errors

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in marketing or communications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology

  • A Master's degree or higher in science or technology

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
