We are currently looking for innovative hands-on Web Developer to architect, design, develop, test, and advance sophisticated next generation applications.

What you will be doing as your key responsibilities...

  • Analysis, design, implementation, and unit testing to produce high-quality code

  • Performs product design activities which may require research and analysis

  • Designs and implements new software as well as maintains and enhances existing software

  • Is able to decompose requirements into tasks and provide estimates for those tasks

  • Ensures that code adheres to strict standards for accessibility, security, object-oriented practices and performance

  • Writes and conducts unit and integration tests

  • Effectively functions and communicates within a software development team consisting of developers, quality assurance, and product & project management members

  • Actively participates in requirements, design and code reviews

  • Participate in group improvement activities and initiatives to improve process and product quality in pursuit of excellence; writes documentation for both internal and external consumers, covering design artifacts, code, and fixes

  • Expected to mentor associate software developers and continually contribute to process improvement activities


What we are looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and 3-5 years of software development experience

  • 3 years experience in software development roles

  • Expert knowledge and capabilities inJavaScript technologies - MUST have Angular!

  • Expert knowledge and capabilities in UI unit testing frameworks such as Karma-Mocha and Jasmine

  • Experience with configuration management systems and concepts, specifically Git

  • Experience consuming Restful webservices

  • 2 years minimum experience required working in an Agile environment

  • Experience with Agile software development processes

  • Expert experience with HTML, CSS layout, Javascript/jQuery, AJAX

  • Ability to code pixel-perfect, cross-browser, responsive layouts from provided designs

  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (LESS or Sass)

  • Experience writing web standard, semantic and accessible HTML

  • At least one year of involved developing J2EE applications in a structured environment using Java, HTML, JavaScript

  • Experience writing native Javascript

  • Experience with single page application frameworks (Angular, Ember, Backbone, etc.)

Additional skills:

  • Software Design, Implementation (i.e. coding), and Testing

  • Web development

  • Communication – be able to communicate information to persons with varying degrees of computer knowledge; effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Must assimilate information, distill knowledge, apply experience and provide solution alternatives and recommendations; creative problem-solving skills, solid troubleshooter

  • Desire to expand knowledge in many development languages, applications, and tools

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new processes and tools, business domains and technical applications

  • Ability to think technically and analytically with a philosophical understanding of softwarearchitecture

  • Must have strong time management skills; ability to work well under pressure, plan/set priorities, adapt to change, and meet established timelines

  • Must develop effective relationships with internal and external contacts and work well within a team

  • Must be a self-starter and detail-oriented

At Pearson , the Learning Services Technology team is responsible for the delivery of shared services and next-generation learning platforms for K-12 students and teachers (such as Realize), mobile learning applications (such as Realize Reader), as well as shared services leveraged across platforms. These innovative platforms and applications provide premium content to help teachers enhance their instructional materials. In addition to searchable pre-loaded curriculum and assessments, teachers also are able to upload their own course content as well as create tests for students. Many platforms are tablet-compatible for in-classroom and at-home use, and also offers class management and reporting capabilities for teachers.
