Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

As a Deployment Network Engineer with CACI, you'll work as part of a team of Splunk and Systems Engineers and Architects to implement, integrate, and if necessary customize the installation of defensive cybersecurity capabilities for DHS.

You'll also assist in the execution of Developmental, Operational, and Security test and evaluation according to DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) requirements.

More About the Role:

  • Perform discovery of DHS and component WAN/LAN in support of CDM solution deployment activities, documenting ports, protocols, assets and Internet protocol (IP) information

  • Identify load configuration and component-specific network customizations

  • Create as-built documentation, completing Component-specific Change Control Board documentation

  • Execute WAN/LAN network configurations according to DHS/Component-specific processes and procedures

  • Test and validate changes, assessing CDM solution availability and data integrity

  • Conduct Network Impact Assessment to understand new capability bandwidth impact

  • Execute WAN/LAN network configurations, documenting execution steps in the SOP

  • Test and validate changes, assessing CDM solution availability and data integrity

  • Responsible for providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

  • Designs and plans network systems. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

  • Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).

  • Conducts testing of network systems. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.

  • Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  • Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations. Monitors network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Monitors system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. Works with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

  • Provides Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework and Security Controls (NIST SP 800-53 and DHS4300A/B)

  • Experience with developing, operating, and maintaining test and development labs including the extensive use of virtualization using VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V, Oracle Virtual Box, oVirt or another commercial or Open Source virtualization technology

  • Experience troubleshooting networking issues at the hands-on technical level, i.e. “crash carting” or remoting into a switch, router, or other virtual or hardware device to remediate an issue

  • Server and Server Blade experience including using Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, or other Out-of-Band remote access technology to access and troubleshoot servers or other computing devices, e.g. Wireless Access Points (WAP’s), etc.

  • Strong understanding of Routing, Switching, and Cisco iOS, JunOS, or equivalent Linux experience helpful

  • Cabling, Power, Cooling, and optics familiarity or experience, UPS, Power Cord Whips, Connectors, etc.

  • Storage familiarity or experience, Fujitsu, EMC, NAS, etc.

  • Data Center experience including experience (or Familiarity) with the concepts of Tech Refresh, Configuration Management, Change Management, Agile, ITIL, COBIT, or PMBoK methodologies

  • Experience (or Familiarity) with Cloud and Mobile technologies

  • Experience (or Familiarity) with Microsegmentation, Advanced Data Protection, Digital Rights Management tools technologies

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance

  • Ability to obtain DHS Entrance on Duty

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Desired Skills:

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified

  • Cisco Certifications (one or more preferred)

  • VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat and/or Splunk certifications (preferred)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field (Computer or engineering related preferred, but not required)

  • 3-5 Years’ Experience
