CACI International Lead Network Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia
What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI is hiring a Lead Network Engineer to support our DHS Customer. You'll lead a cross-matrixed team of Network Engineers (and possibly Splunk or Python Engineers) responsible for acquiring, customizing, configuring, implementing, and integrating cutting edge Cyber defense technologies in support of DHS. You will have several direct reports that you are responsible for.

Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS). Conducts testing of network systems.
Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex Conduct Network Impact Assessment to understand new capability bandwidth requirements
Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
Execute WAN/LAN network configurations, documenting execution steps in the SOP
Build, configure, and customize test environment networks
Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
Monitors network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Monitors system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. Works with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures OR may be a recognized subject matter expert
Test and validate changes, assessing CDM solution availability and data integrity
provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Designs and plans network systems.
Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of job area OR may demonstrate innovative influence within a project that has impact and participation from multiple departments.
Establishes or works to achieve, team objectives, operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function or completion of a project.
Problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems are difficult and moderately complex.
Provides Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Problems typically impact multiple departments or specialties.
Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Experience with developing, operating, and maintaining test and development labs including the extensive use of virtualization using VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V, Oracle Virtual Box, oVirt or another commercial or Open Source virtualization technology
Experience troubleshooting networking issues at the hands-on technical level, i.e. “crash carting” or remoting into a switch, router, or other virtual or hardware device to remediate an issue
practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area.
Server and Server Blade experience including using Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, or other Out-of-Band remote access technology to access and troubleshoot servers or other computing devices, e.g. Wireless Access Points (WAP’s), etc.
Strong understanding of Routing, Switching, and Cisco iOS, JunOS, or equivalent (Linux, Splunk, and Python experience helpful)
Cabling, Power, Cooling, and optics familiarity or experience, UPS, Power Cord Whips, Connectors, etc.
Storage familiarity or experience, Fujitsu, EMC, NAS, etc.
Data Center experience including
Experience (or Familiarity) with Microsegmentation, Advanced Data Protection, Digital Rights Management tools technologies
Experience (or Familiarity) with the concepts of Tech Refresh, Configuration Management, Change Management, Agile, ITIL, COBIT, or PMBoK methodologies
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
CCNP/CCNA/JNCP/JNCIA Certifications (one or more preferred)
PMP Certification (preferred)
VMware VCP, Microsoft (MCTS or MCSE), Red Hat (RHCE or RHCA) and/or Splunk certifications (preferred)
Bachelor’s Degree in technical field (Computer or engineering related preferred, but not required)
10-15 Years’ Experience
Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization
