We are searching for a Patient Care Technician to join our Environmental Services Department position on a full time (night shift) basis.*Under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, the PST administers direct nursing care consistent with the nursing care plan, including treatment, hygiene and monitoring vital signs and accepts additional tasks as assigned. *



The patient support technician (PST) is an integral part of a multidisciplinary care team. Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel; the PST within the scope of training and hospital guidelines performs a variety of technical and specialized skills that assist with addressing the comfort and personal care needs of the patient. Responsibilities may include but not limited to measuring vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, administering blood glucose testing, feeding, bathing, repositioning, transporting, performing EKGs, measuring I&O’s and electronic documentation. Direct observation and monitoring of patients deemed to be at risk to self or others. Care is provided to all patients based on age specific development and cultural diversity. Performs necessary clerical duties by computing and maintaining records for a nursing unit. Overall management of the nursing station including taking off physician orders, answering telephones, answering patient call lights and obtaining supplies and other duties as needed. Also accepts additional tasks assigned. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.

  1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:BLS – Healthcare provider.
  2. Education:Basic reading comprehension required


  1. *Experience: *Patient care experience preferred. Must show proficiency in performing nursing assistant duties. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Experience as a ward clerk or unit secretary in acute care preferred. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal & external customer. Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities.

  2. Special qualifications:Must have the ability to effectively read, write and speak fluent English. Effective communication skills; both orally and written. Computer skills needed. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.


  • Degree of Supervision Required*: Involves general guidance and direction by Supervisors, Department Manager, Charge or Staff nurse. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
