This is an exciting opportunity in Charleston, South Carolina for a Test Engineer. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Planning & Coordination:
Proactively engages stakeholders to clearly identify requirements and develop robust schedules.
Acts as the main point of contact between stakeholders and test operations.
Responsible for all work order entries to execute requirements as scheduled.
Leads build plan, installation plan, test plan, and teardown document reviews with a cross functional group that includes test operations.
Demonstrates highly effective and professional communication skills, both electronically as well as in person.
Provides daily updates to stakeholders.
Proactively engages stakeholders to resolve issues.
Engine Build & Tear Down:
Prototype Engine Builds: Gathers requirements from stakeholders and coordinates with both the materials team and test operations.
Engine Tear Down Reviews: Coordination with stakeholders on engine teardown requirements and manages teardown process with test operations.
Data Quality / Test Plan Execution:
Engine Health Monitoring
Instrumentation Health Monitoring
Assures the Test Plan is executed as intended, and that the instrumentation and engine operation is properly set to collect the intended data for the stakeholders.
Contributes to the solution of complex technical problems, provides input, and assists in removing barriers.
Test Cell Observance:
Proposes innovative initiatives and projects for continuous improvement.
Development of Self & Others:
Works towards completion of individual development plan for test engineers.
Receptive to collaborative work with the stakeholders and test operations in order to learn and occasionally teach enhanced knowledge / skills, with the objective of collective knowledge growth and developing positive working relationships.
Skills and Experience Required:
Laboratory Operations - Able to execute all elements of the Laboratory Operations process flow model: Planning, Preparation, Execution, Analysis, Execution.
Engineering Standards - Basic knowledge in Engineering Standards.
Technical Documentation - Basic Knowledge in Technical Documentation.
7 Step Product Problem Solving Process - Able to understand and apply the 7-step process to solve a problem including incorporating Fault Tree Analysis into the process the 7-step Problem Solving Process.
Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) - Understands can describe the purpose, content, steps in developing/ managing of a Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and the role of Engineering Standard Work in the DVP&R. For further details see SkillTrack TE-RFE1-15
2 years of post-graduate experience
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
Bachelor of Science (or equivalent degree) in Engineering required

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
