Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (“IP”) comprises public investments for the Credit Investment Portfolio (CIP), public investments for the Macro Investment Portfolio (MIP), and the private Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance (“REEF”) and Reinsurance businesses. With dual reporting to Wholesale (CIP & private businesses) and Corporate Treasury (MIP), IP manages the entire portfolio of Available For Sale (AFS) and Held To Maturity (HTM) investments and cash.

The Credit Investment Portfolio, a division of Wholesale Banking, is responsible for the evaluation of credit-driven investment opportunities across a broad spectrum of asset classes. With a view towards long term holds, CIP focuses on relative risk/reward by purchasing (and selling) at prices that enhance shareholder value and improve Wells Fargo’s risk adjusted return on capital. As an extension of Wholesale’s lending platform, CIP applies the same depth of credit due diligence that other Wholesale lending divisions have historically applied to loan products. Accordingly, each investment is underwritten from the bottom up with thorough credit, structural, and legal analysis, and is monitored continuously until final repayment of principal.

The Macro Investment Portfolio (MIP), a division of Corporate Finance, is responsible for maintaining a portfolio of fixed income investments to achieve liquidity, interest rate risk management, and capital management objectives on behalf of Corporate Asset Liability Committee (ALCO). MIP invests in high quality, highly liquid and readily marketable securities that are primarily U.S. Treasury and government agency securities. Other investment asset classes include corporate bonds, municipal bonds, asset-backed and commercial mortgage-backed securities. With a view towards longer term investing, MIP’s asset appetite is discretionary at the direction of ALCO to deploy a portion of the Company’s excess deposits in a safe and sound manner. MIP relies on the Credit Investment Portfolio (CIP) to analyze and monitor most credit sensitive individual investments

The Infrastructure Team supports all of the Investment Portfolio teams with risk management deliverables, provides standardized processes and tools, implements required changes by regulators and internal oversight groups, and ensures accurate and consistent reporting across the portfolio. The Infrastructure team works closely several Enterprise and Wholesale partners to drive change including: Information Technology, Securities Operations, Corporate Finance & Accounting, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Compliance, Enterprise Risk, Human Resources, Legal, Corporate Communications and Wells Fargo Securities.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to an IP Infrastructure Manager, this position will manage business process improvements and technology change execution for the Investment Portfolio. This includes project planning and implementation support across IP programs (project plans, issue tracking, deliverable management, presentation material)

  • Support the Investment Portfolio investing teams as well as the overall IP Platform, Process Optimization and Data Management and Governance.

  • Support the re-engineering of Investment Portfolio tools and business processes improving the data integrity, scalability and reporting mechanisms. This includes assisting with the management of a proprietary issue tracking tool (TIX).

  • Develops metrics that provide data for process management indicators for future improvement opportunities.

  • Performs or oversees complex analysis and applies results to initiatives that support recommendations for optimal approaches; including proposed technology, staff and structure changes and cost estimates.

  • Responsibilities are varied and may include: gathers and documents project requirements; tracks and reports project and budget status, identifies project/production issues and escalates to avoid project delays; schedules problem reviews and follows up on assigned actions; arranges and/or delivers training; documents processes and procedures; updates documents, reports, and/or group information posted on SharePoint or Intranet; serves as point of contact for project information and updates.

  • Possesses expert-level technical and critical thinking skills and the ability to partner with and lead others.

  • Responsible for delivering strategic analysis, insights and decision strategies for a functional area with impact across business lines or with enterprise-wide impact.

  • Possesses broad-based technical and business knowledge to anticipate emerging issues and recommend subsequent strategies and business direction.

  • Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality.

  • Drives business awareness of quality/process methodology.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning in financial services

Desired Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Visio experience

  • SQL experience

  • Tableau experience

  • Technical Writing experience, preferably in the banking industry

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of securities investment trading function support

  • Knowledge and understanding of underwriting

  • Experience mapping business processes

  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
