Bank of America Consultant II- System Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina
The senior IT System Engineering Consultant provides deep subject matter expertise (SME) focused on the stability and resiliency of externally hosted IT services that have been integrated with BofA's eCommerce environment. She or he will liaison business, technical organizations, and vendors; independently providing IT consultation services by: planning, conducting and directing deep dive assessments and analysis of broad internet, B2B network, and enterprise system resiliency and availability concerns, infrastructure resiliency designs, monitoring systems, and ITSM operational processes.
The IT systems engineering consultant will ensure 3rd party service performance meets contractual SLAs.
The consultant will assess and analyze broad network and IT system resiliency concerns and identify non-functional operational and business risks associated with targeted 3rd party services Availability, Stability, Resiliency, and Disaster Recovery capabilities. As a SME and consultant to internal technology and business groups, you will create solid written business cases, and deliver presentations to senior leaders that propose recommended solutions, re-engineered technical designs, and process improvements needed to achieve greater overall system stability and resiliency.
Facilitate daily video/teleconference meetings involving a large number of participants, and leading individuals outside your group to determine Root Cause (RC) of problems.
To be successful in this role, the individual must have superior verbal and written communication skills (beginning with the resume) to be comfortable working across a very large, multi-disciplined technology and business organization. The role demands effective listening skills. These skills are essential for driving groups toward desired outcomes within prescribed timeframes. Related prior experience is required. Leading individuals outside your group will be required; therefore strong inter-personal, influencing, negotiating, consensus building, and conflict resolution skills are crucial. Proven related prior experience will be appraised during the interview process.
Typically 5-7 years of IT systems consulting experience.
Familiarity with High-Availability designs of enterprise IT systems and networks. Skilled with navigating very large organizations across multiple business areas to influence decision makers, and win trust using people skills and deep technology knowledge.
Must be a mature self-starter able to multi-task in a fast paced environment with minimal direction. Must manage competing priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining necessary processes, controls and procedures that ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting into needed multiple SORs.
Must be adept at decomposing complex technology and/or process problems into well organized, logical and detailed descriptions that succinctly highlight critical issues and will facilitate problem solving. Attention to detail and effective skills for driving Problem Management disciplines to achieve desired outcomes.
Working knowledge of IT system administration best practices, monitoring (at all 7 layers), Internet network technologies and information security related technologies (DMZs, Proxies, Load Balancers, Firewalls) and operating systems (VMWare/ Oracle RAC, DBMS, Clusters, JVMs) as the role will require expertise analyzing IT system designs for resiliency, DR capabilities.
A seasoned systems engineer, consultant, or architect that can quickly establish a full understanding of business objectives and underlying drivers, to develop and drive strategies and solutions in support of initiatives and projects that will improve and measure IT services.
5-7 years of IT systems consulting experience
Professional level of etiquette in high pressure situations
Proven success building internal and external relationships with vendors and business partners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translating business requirements, create and deliver reports, presentations and other documents as related to responsibilities listed above.
Must have prior experience writing a business case for management interpretation and action.
BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science
Strong working knowledge of hosting systems, VM Ware, Java, networking principles and related technologies
Working knowledge of data security issues and solutions
Infrastructure architecture experience
Working knowledge and experience of ITIL processes
