Bank of America Data Scientist II in Charlotte, North Carolina
This position will provide data, process, and analytical support to the Global Risk Analytics organization. The team is responsible for performing complex analysis aimed at improving portfolio risk, profitability, performance forecasting and operational performance for consumer products. The work will focus primarily on consumer portfolio data, including internal Bank performance data, relationship data, and external credit bureau data. Will be actively involved in the execution of processes and assist management in the development and implementation of control policies, data management and lineage execution, and forecasting / MIS support.
The Data Scientist II will work with business data users to define the use of data within risk systems. Recommend remediation of control gaps and implements effective risk controls of our data processes and systems. Understand existing risk systems, data flows, and infrastructure to identify gaps between business usage of data and current implementations. Recommend alternate data sources and processes to improve the control environment. Lead cross functional strategic efforts to remediate data quality issues. Proactively monitor and remediate incoming data used in risk measurement and reporting.
Proven ability to manipulate and query large datasets using SAS and/or SQL. Familiarity with relational database platforms as well as Apache Hadoop and Spark.
Support data governance processes and framework including but not limited to Enterprise Data Management (“EDM”) template maintenance, managing centralized documentation library, partnering with LOBs for error/observation remediation
Bachelors degree required – technical degree preferred (statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, engineering, etc.).
Excellent analytical, logical, reasoning and problem solving skills.
Previous risk management experience and sound knowledge of financial statements is desirable.Familiarity with external credit bureau data is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels (i.e. colleagues to senior management) and situations (i.e. one-on-one to presentations).
Strong understanding of BAC’s business operations and relationships between business areas, typically acquired through previous financial services experience.
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail in work as well as the ability to remain calm and flexible in the face of increased demands, changing priorities and uncertain environment.
