Job Description:

Balance Sheet Management (BSM) is a division within the CFO group responsible for providing executive management with accurate and timely forecasts of the balance sheet and net interest income (NII). Another critical BSM function is the measurement and analysis of Interest Rate Risk (IRR) using various methods. This information provides the framework that allows the company to position its balance sheet consistent with its risk appetite and expectations for changes in interest rates. BSM maintains close partnerships with various groups across the enterprise, providing key input to critical processes and strategic decisions. These partnerships focus on the following: (1) balance sheet composition and interest rate risk strategy, (2) strategic planning for the company’s three-year outlook with Corporate Planning and Finance, (3) setting the right strategy to accurately measure the profitability of assets and liabilities to ensure efficient usage of the balance sheet, (4) stress testing the balance sheet under adverse economic scenarios with the Global Stress Testing team and, (5) producing the balance sheet and NII forecast in coordination with the Line of Business and Global Liquidity Management for the Global Resolution and Recovery Planning exercise.

The Interest Rate Analytics team within Balance Sheet Management

  • The team is responsible for measuring Interest Rate Risk in varying environments. Metrics include Economic, Accounting, and Regulatory parameters. Make rate positioning & risk recommendations after analyzing tradeoffs among competing metrics and constraints in a scenario driven environment. Scope of role is Enterprise level including $2 Trillion of Asset and $2 Trillion of Liabilities.

  • Present to Executive Management and Regulators. Produce analytics for Senior Leadership inclusive of scenario analysis.

  • Outputs are consumed by External Reporting, Investor Relations, Portfolio Management, & Enterprise Risk.

  • Business partner with multiple groups within Corporate Treasury including Finance, Capital, Forecasting, Corporate Investments, Quantitative Finance, & Corporate Funding.

Enterprise Role Overview

Oversee daily trend analysis on the balance sheet. Manage projects for executive management including, but not limited to forecasting, securitization, deposit pricing, and annual report disclosures. Works with a high level of autonomy and assists with training of junior staff.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in data analytics with emphasis on design, testing, and implementation of calculations related to net interest income, cash flows, or risk analytics

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience inFinance, Business, Accounting, Quantitative, or Economics degree preferred

  • Finance/Accounting knowledge – experience in balance sheet management, forecasting, or other Corporate Treasury functions

  • Understanding of financial market dynamics, interest rates, accounting, and financial products

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment

  • Ability to work across multiple teams in a collaborative environment

  • Proficient in MS Office tools, especially Microsoft Excel & SQL skills

  • Inquisitive, willing to challenge the status quo and strive to improve processes

  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and make well-reasoned decisions

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fixed Income and Derivative knowledge a plus, as well as CFA/MBA
