Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The ALM Risk team is part of the Market and Counterparty Risk Management group which provides Independent Risk Management under the direction of the Company’s Chief Risk Officer. ALM Risk provides governance and oversight for two front-line risk-taking groups, namely Corporate ALM and WFC’s Investment Portfolio. The ALM Risk Analytics team provides quantitative support to the ALM governance teams to fulfill their responsibility to monitor ALM Risk and perform independent risk analysis. The team currently makes use of QRM for balance sheet risk analysis and OCI models for Investment Portfolio (IP) risk analysis.

This position will report to head of Balance Sheet Analytics to provide modeling and analytics using QRM/PolyPaths or other ALM modeling systems for investment portfolio risk or balance sheet risk management. This person will work closely with ALM risk subject matter experts (SMEs) and IP risk SMEs to perform independent analytics on Earnings, Capital and Economic Value risk under alternative valuation and planning scenarios and assumptions. This role will also closely work with ALM CFMOs to help manage model risk.

Specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with ALM risk SMEs to independently model and analyze asset liability risk taken by the first line, e.g., corporate treasury and investment portfolio team: review quantitative and qualitative models and business assumptions, design alternative scenarios and techniques to analyze risk exposures and develop key metrics for IP and the Balance sheet.

  • Work as the SME of the QRM/Polypaths ALM modeling system to configure, test, validate and implement model assumptions, key metrics and scenarios to generate independent risk analysis.

  • Support ALM risk SMEs to run ad-hock analysis related to market valuation, planning and stress testing in order to credibly challenge analyses and assumptions made by the first line.

  • Work as the SME of ALM risk modeling data to develop a deep understanding of the data structure of QRM in order to partner with ALM/IP SMEs and the reporting team to create ALM risk reporting for senior management, senior committees and the board.

  • Work closely with the QRM Center of Excellence (COE) to efficiently identify and resolve production issue related to models, assumptions, and scenarios.

  • Develop effective relationships with Treasury’s Corporate ALM group, WFC’s Investment Portfolio Group and their model developers/ owners to effectively facilitate discussions and resolve issues.

  • Participate as needed in regulatory meetings, audit and other management discussions around oversight of IP and ALM Quantitative and Qualitative models.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, or capital markets
