Job Description:

Bank of America’s Global Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Group supports the company’s Responsible Growth strategy by working with lines of business and support groups to integrate ESG leadership into everything we do. The Community Affairs group - part of the ESG Group - serves as a liaison between key external stakeholders and our lines of business and support functions.

As part of its ESG strategy, Bank of America has made a commitment to hire 10,000 military veterans, guards, and reservists. The position of ESG Program Manager – Military Affairs is responsible for collaborating with key partners to successfully hire and retain veterans. In this capacity, the ESG Program Manager – Military Affairs will work closely with the talent acquisition team to develop, coordinate and implement military hiring and retention strategies across all lines of business. In addition, he or she will work with lines of business leaders to recognize and connect LOB resources to develop and manage military affairs and ESG-related issues and processes, especially those related to the needs of our employees who are veterans, military reservists or family members.

The ESG Program Manager – Military Affairs would work closely with colleagues throughout the company, including colleagues in the Local Market Delivery, Marketing, Public Policy, and ESG teams, as well as throughout the lines of business and other support functions. He or she will coordinate with Government Relations team in Washington, DC and may occasionally engage with uniformed Flag and General Officers and top civilian leadership on active duty and veterans' financial issues.

Responsibilities will also include, but not be limited to the following:

  • serving as a project manager and driving multiple military affairs initiatives internally and externally;

  • partnering with the local market delivery team on community engagement processes;

  • working on community-related marketing efforts;

  • Coordinating communications and talent acquisition initiatives

  • Managing relationships with new and existing partners

  • Serving as panelist/moderator

  • Preparing quarterly briefing for Advisory Panel

  • Reporting via a dotted line to Head, Military and Veterans Affairs

The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex projects across a matrixed organization. He or she will have the demonstrated ability to navigate at all levels in the organization and military environment and interact effectively with audiences of varying skill sets and authority.

Required Skills

  • US Military veteran

  • Credentials and access to Pentagon, VA, White House, Financial Services Roundtable, and Department of Labor

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and sell in business cases

  • Excellent influencing skills through verbal and written communications

  • Proven record of developing relationships and driving accountability from key business partners

  • Motivated self-starter who is able to proactively offer ideas and strategies and make decisions

  • Strategic vision with the ability to translate into tactical execution

  • Demonstrated excellence in project prioritization and project management

  • Ability to work extended hours and travel when required
