Bank of America Process Optimization Analyst – Python / Excel / VBA in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description:


  • Corporate Treasury Finance are currently executing a high volume of foundational projects both within Treasury but also from the wider corporate enterprise.

  • The role will have significant exposure to senior managers and opportunities to present and articulate their work across Corporate Treasury.

  • Successful candidate will be a tenacious problem solver and enjoys executing solutions to seemingly intractable problems and intransigent points of view.

  • They should have a history of self-starting programs that are scalable and practical for users.

  • An academic background in mathematics or engineering would be an advantage and an entrepreneurial spirit to get things done and find solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Executing practical, "quick-win" style projects to improve spreadsheets and infrastructure that will be wholly owned by the candidate

  • Ensuring regular, concise updates to colleagues and senior management

  • Tactful articulation of road blocks and solutions

  • Keeping stakeholders accountable for their responsibilities

Enterprise Role Overview

Responsible for balance sheet, general ledger and/or product controls specific to a defined area or defined process. Understands the market and the market drivers of the product they are supporting. Understands more complex structured transactions and the operational risks around the end to end product lifecycle. Implements improvements to the system infrastructure and control environment. Provides general team guidance on complex transactions. May provide input to recruiting and hiring and performance management processes. BA preferred or substantially equivalent experience. Typically 5-7 years of applicable experience.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in Mathematics or engineering

  • 2+ years’ experience with significant process redesign and code writing experience (preferably in python but also VBA)

  • Significant experience in process optimization

  • Advanced Excel experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills: Ability to bridge communication amongst technologists and between Analysts and Technologists; Ability to work across business groups and in a team environment

  • Strong understanding of the front-to-back workflow for any given process; Must have ability to apply strategic thinking to multiple, complex organizational and business issues, ability to translate into practical plans for execution

  • Ability to be an active team member and drive change: Strong collaboration and relationship management skills; High sense of urgency with ability to drive results
