_About the Security Engineer Intern Position:_
We are seeking a highly motivated Security Engineer to join the Oracle NetSuite Security team to help secure the business and drive innovation.
The Security Engineer Intern will use data collected from a variety of information security tools (including intrusion detection system alerts, firewall and network traffic logs, and host system logs) to analyze events that occur within the enterprise and perform threat analysis as well as investigate and analyze all response activities related to potential security incidents within the enterprise.
Deploy, document and support security solutions for various services and infrastructure both on premise and cloud
Develop security hardening guidelines and security procedures
Conduct security risk assessment and evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls
Support vulnerability management and remediation functions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engineer technical solutions and processes
Collaborate with internal and external teams to respond to security alerts, incidents and conduct investigations as needed
Work with System Administrators and Engineers to ensure system are designed and configured securely
Identify, respond and escalate possible security violations and incidents
Pro-active research on emerging threats and issues in the security industry and provide recommendations
_Required Skills and Experience:_
US Veteran transitioning from active service or active duty Military Spouse new to corporate experience preferred
Knowledge of security controls including network security technologies (IDS, IPS, firewall, DLP, NAC, and WAF), OS hardening, file integrity monitoring, authentication
Expertise in TCP/IP networking and Linux server administration
Strong understanding of system and network security threats and vulnerabilities
Self-motivated and possess solid critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
_Preferred Education and Experience:_
BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or equivalent experience:
2 years in a hands-on information security role
3 years in Information Technology
Batch programming and scripting skills
Knowledge of Linux, automation/ orchestration, OS hardening, application control, and RBAC. Ability to build, tune, and monitor servers and services
Experience with log analytics and SIEM a plus.
Certifications and/or continuing education programs to include: CISSP, RHCE, CCNA, GSEC, CISA, CEH, Security
