The Deputy Chief Health Officer - Provider will provide clinical leadership in the design and development of solutions and engagement with key stakeholders to support meaningful use of Watson Health solutions across the Provider business portfolio. He/she will engage with key stakeholders and institutions across the healthcare continuum and build relationships with potential clients to advocate the use of innovative informatics and technology to solve their business problems. The Deputy will ensure excellence in customer relationships by communicating needs from clinicians to technology leads and vice versa to deliver solutions aligned with client’s organizational objectives from the identification of an opportunity through delivery of contract commitments. In addition, the Deputy will provide clinical expertise to Watson Health’s research and publication work. He/she will support compliance with accrediting and certifying bodies and federal, state and local agencies. The Deputy will collaborate with the Chief Health Officer and other Deputies, Watson Health Consultants, Business Leads, Strategy, Product Offering Leads, Go-to-Market Leads, and Quality Management team.

This SME has responsibilities in three overarching areas;

Develop Product Insights:

  • Provide broad and strategic healthcare expertise to Development and Offering Management teams to inform high value solution development/improvements and intuitive, seamless workflow design.

  • Collaborate among quality management and product offerings teams to ensure quality and safety of solutions.

  • Support the generation of strategic data & evidence for the Provider portfolio in collaboration with evaluation research leadership and offering managers for publication in key medical and academic research channels

Execute Client Opportunity:

  • Provide broad healthcare expertise for key customer engagements during use case definition and solution design and implementation.

  • Facilitate opportunities of collaborations by brokering trust and understanding among key industry stakeholders.

  • Engage External Market and IBM Network

Externally:

  • Engage with key health/healthcare stakeholders (e.g., KOLs, oncology assoc., government, policy organizations, etc.) to inform and shape cognitive health marketplace and represent IBM Watson Health point of view.

  • Support the development of a publication strategy (especially for top tier professional journals), to demonstrate effectiveness, guide innovation, and support go-to-market efforts;

  • Collaborate with corporate citizenship organization to drive and execute on Watson Health mission for underserved, needy, global communities.

Internally:

  • Engage clinical professionals across IBM to foster a strong network and community and harness clinical expertise to individually and collectively fuel Watson Health/IBM Healthcare innovation and go-to-market efforts

  • Help establish and communicate Watson Health mission and develop shared language within IBM network

Necessary experience:

  • Two or more years in medical practice post residency; contemporary clinician who understands major trends in health IT / oncology and broad understanding of industry workflow

  • Five or more years of experience working in industry outside of a clinical setting in a variety of roles

  • Has strong business mindset and 3 or more years of industry experience outside of clinical setting

  • Strategic and innovative thinker with 2 or more years of experience in business development / consulting / sales / sales support

  • Experience in informing design and development of innovative healthcare solutions using technology, data, and new models of care

  • Strong leadership, team building and people skills

  • Leader, visionary, consensus builder, innovative, effective, ethical

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • MD or DO required

  • At least 5 years experience working in a healthcare company in a variety of roles

  • At least 3 years experience working in senior clinical role in healthcare industry or health IT setting

  • At least 2 years experience in business development/consultative sales/sales support

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • At least 2 years experience in medical practice post residency

  • At least 10 years experience working in a healthcare company in a variety of roles

  • At least 4 years experience working in senior clinical role in healthcare industry or health IT setting

  • At least 4 years experience in business development / consulting / sales / sales support
