Job Description

I. Primary Function

To promote and generate sales of solar products from an inside sales environment. Secondary job function is to efficiently process multiple orders while continuing to provide superior customer service.

II. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process requests directly from customers (via telephone, fax and mail) for price quotations, product availability, customer orders, material returns, billing corrections, product information, order changes, and cancellations

  • Plan and implement telemarketing and prospecting objectives pertaining to customers interested in solar products

  • Build relationships with contractors and building owners / homeowners interested in purchasing solar products

  • Quickly and smoothly resolve customer complaints and problems

  • Engage in specialty purchasing (when applicable)

  • Coordinate delivery and/or pick up of customer orders with operations teams

  • Provide support to Outside Sales initiatives

  • Generates price quotations in a timely manner

  • Responsible for adhering to policies of the customer financial services

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date "open order" files in computer system

  • Maintains adequate supply of product samples and literature

  • Reviews all orders to forecast additional customer needs

  • Interacts with sister branches when necessary on inventory issues and deliveries

  • Maintains strong relationships with customers during and after purchases to facilitate return business

  • Sustains a working technical knowledge of all available Allied solar products and general knowledge of Allied roofing products

  • Performs other duties as assigned

III. Professional Skills

  • Needs to demonstrate well-honed sales skills

  • Must understand the nuances of customer relations

  • Must have superior verbal communication, written communication and follow-up skills

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once while maintaining control and perspective of each

  • Must be able to learn and retain vast amounts of product information

IV. Experience

  • Sales experience (possibly in the building products industry)

  • Experience in a team-based environment

  • Experience in handling multiple projects/tasks at once

  • Experience in a position that deals directly with customers (front-line)
