Eaton Corporation Supplier Development Engineer in Chennai, India

  • Perform basic supplier audits and assessment in order to assess capability and fit to Eaton Corporations specific needs and requirements.

  • Support sourcing awards by conducting print review / technical feasibility/ risk assessment

  • Lead/facilitate/participate in cross-functional teams involving the suppliers and Eaton functions to run APQP/ PPAP/ FAI, and implement sourcing projects post award.

  • Apply appropriate project management concepts and tools to effectively manage complex implementation projects.

  • Work with suppliers on continuous improvement in quality systems, manufacturing processes, lean practices etc.

  • Interface between the suppliers in the country / region of activity and Eaton global operations to ensure that engineering and manufacturing quality and compliance with Eaton required standards is assured.

  • Conduct problem solving and root cause analysis activities in order to eliminate recurrence of non-conformities, utilizing a formal and predefined process.

  • Support in ensuring initial ramp-up and addressing the issues pertaining to delivery performance

  • Support Eaton’s IDEA program to drive cost out initiatives.

  • Understanding of cost drives, Zero based activity/ process / project costing with excellent negotiation skills.

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Equivalent.

7-10 years relevant experience either in Supplier development, Supplier Quality Assurance, or Plant Quality functions, especially during sourcing project implementation. Experience in relevant industry will be preferred.

Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as Castings, Machining, etc.

Knowledge of quality techniques such as: SPC, QFD, Kaizen, 8-D, APQP, PPAP, FAI

Good project management and communication skills

Experience in managing supplier performance for continuous improvement.

Proficient in MS office applications.

Knowledge of Lean Tools, TPM, 6 Sigma, DOE

Understanding of ISO9000, TS16949 & EHS.

Experience &/or quality auditor recognition or a certified quality engineer

Understanding of GD & T

Hands on experience in measuring equipment like CMM, Roughness Tester etc.

Proficiency in MS Project is a plus.
