J.W. Terrill a Marsh & McLennan Agency is currently looking for an experienced Loss Control Manager. This position is responsible for all Commercial Lines Loss Control Operations, Support operational excellence through design, implementation and monitoring of program policies and procedures that consistently meet expectations for productivity and quality of service. The Loss Control Manager leads a team of Loss Control Specialists and assists in the day to day handling of proscribed loss control and customer service requirements. The manager also serves as an advocate for and liaison with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) involved in loss prevention services. The Manager facilitates a team approach and working environment that incorporates a shared responsibility for accomplishing the strategic goals. The Essential Functions of this position are as follows:

Leadership and Management Actively participate in the development and delivery of the company strategic plan specific to the loss control department and in concert with Terrill and MMA corporate initiatives.
Provide overall leadership of personnel related activities for the team including day-to-day employee relations issues Responsible for employee hiring including screening and interviewing candidates, onboarding and ongoing training Foster quality focus in others and improve processes, products and services Support the professional growth and development of staff through career counseling, performance goal setting and accountability for performance through scheduled and periodic employee feedback Coordinate communication and act as a liaison between other teams, management and support staff to promote strong communication and problem solving as situations arise Serve as a mentor to staff that establishes an atmosphere conducive to learning, initiative, product knowledge and skills Prioritize and plan work activities; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; organize or schedule other people and their tasks; develop realistic action plans Invest in continued professional growth and development that supports both individual and company goals. Facilitates the interaction between loss prevention and claims disciplines specifically related to claim analysis for benchmarking and prioritizing loss prevention interventions. Serves as a resource for making recommendations to clients for process improvement and consulting activities.

Loss Control Consulting

Work closely with producers and internal staff to provide loss control service to clients. Communicate and keep track of customer issues, projects, and progress.

Assist clients in reducing actual and potential losses by recommending, implementing, and improving safety and loss control programs based on loss history, regulation, organizational needs, and industry “best practices”. This will involve:

establishing relationships with client management, making regular visits to client locations, involvement on client safety committees, developing client safety policies and procedures, researching safety and loss control issues, analyzing client loss information, developing and conducting presentations and training sessions with client management and employees, other loss control techniques. Obtain safety and loss control information from prospects and clients to assist in the marketing of insurance programs.

Serve as a liaison between insurance company loss control and clients by coordinating visits and service plans. Follow-up and assist clients with implementing recommendations submitted by insurance company loss control representatives.

Develop loss control service plans for inclusion in prospect and client insurance proposals, Assist producers on client and prospective sales presentations, attend industry and professional meetings, conventions, seminars, and training courses within scope of employment, assist with development and serve as faculty for client education seminars. QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering or related discipline Experience: Minimum 5+ years insurance loss control or safety consulting/engineering experience with construction, manufacturing and related industries. Prior management experience also required.

Specialized Training: Required: Knowledge of OSHA regulations for construction and general industry, loss control “best practices” and workers compensation programs. Preferred: Knowledge of loss control strategies related to vehicle operations, fire prevention, general liability, etc. Knowledge of DOT, NFPA, ANSI and Industrial Hygiene Practices is a plus.
