Oracle Technical Writer in Chesterfield, Missouri

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will design, create and deliver whole product documentation sets and/or related courseware. Edit, organize and direct the work activities of other technical writers and staff. Plan the format, arrange the layout of publications and edit work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

We seek top-notch,very senior technical writers with deep cloud infrastructure knowledge andexperience documenting Internal Tools, APIs, and SDKs. As an early member ofthis technical content team, you will have significant influence on technicalcontent strategy in all areas, including authoring environments, integrationwith engineering workflows, automation tooling, and style guide development.You will also collaborate closely with our state-of-the-art user experienceteam to go beyond traditional forms of product documentation to deliver aground-breaking overall user experience.

Job Responsibilities

Work closely with engineers and product managersas Internal Tools, APIs, and SDKs aredeveloped to author documentation in real time

Deliver accurate customer-facing documentation on time and with a high degree of quality

Contribute to strategic initiatives aroundauthoring environments, development processes, and automation tooling

Work closely with other members of the technicalcontent team to ensure consistency in workflow andwriting style

Collaborate with the user experience team toensure that technical content including documentation, contextual help, UItext, and other forms of assistance are discoverable, usable, and pleasing tothe customer


7 years of experience

Experience developing Internal Tools,APIs, and SDK documentation

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure conceptsand technologies

Knowledge of HTML, CSS andexperience with structured writing

Impeccable written English skills

A Bachelor s degree in a writing-intensive field,or significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technologydevelopment environments

Extra Credit

People management experience or leadership of asignificant documentation team effort

Basic Knowledge of Data Center Operations,Including: Infrastructure Provisioning, Monitoring, Backup and Restore, andSecurity.

Experience translating complex technicalprocesses into straightforward end user guidance and instructions

Ability to write code samples and create processflow diagrams.
