Marsh & McLennan Analytics Services Team (AST) Consultant in Chicago, Illinois

The Analytics Services Team (AST) is critical to Mercer’s ability to deliver advanced analytics which in turn helps our clients better understand and leverage the surveys we offer. These surveys help employers make key decisions about how they will shape their people practices - from pay to health or wealth benefits. As the AST Analytics Consultant you’ll conduct analysis of large data sets produced by the surveys to create new products. You’ll need to be a critical thinker about process design and ideally be able to effectively present your findings to stakeholders so they can leverage this information in a practical manner. In your role, you’ll make an impact by saving countless hours through automation and development work for our colleagues on CST and Career Products. Additionally, we will be able to provide additional advanced analytics and other products. You’ll report to the AST Analytics Manager and work on a team of five located across Chicago and Louisville, KY. In the first 100 days on the job, you’ll collaborate with members of the global team as well as work independently on your own key projects. Deliver custom information, consulting analyses, and reports based on available Mercer surveys and databases, sometimes in conjunction with third-party data, in a pro-active, high-quality and timely manner to consultants and clients within the North America region. Critical thinking and independence, as well as the ability to manage big, complex and non-standard internal and external client projects. Provide recommendations and advice, peer review other colleagues’ work, as well as conduct trainings to new staff on typical products as well as customized analyses. Work to design efficient and well-rounded processes to increase productivity and analytics capability of collaborating teams. To be considered for this opportunity, our ideal candidate will have these core competencies: · BA/BS degree in a relevant field, e.g. mathematics, economics, statistics, sociology, psychology · Very strong analytical and problem solving skills/experience · Ability to draw conclusions from large amounts of data with a solid understanding of statistical analysis · Ability to manage expectations when communicating with people at various levels in the organization · Ability to be forward thinking in identifying critical issues and proactively offer solutions · Project management skills · Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) · Proficiency in Python, R, VBA, or other programming languages (desirable) · Experience in compensation & benefits surveys (desirable) At Mercer, we make a difference in the lives of more than 110 million people every day by advancing their health, wealth, and careers.
