Job Description

The Business Development Director will develop and lead a team responsible for identifying new partnership opportunities and extracting more value from existing ones. This leader will need to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated success in generating leads and fostering client relationships. Organizational skills and strategic analysis are important aspects of the position, along with exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to close deals. The ideal candidate has experience researching market trends, targeting relationships and using proven methods to develop our business strategy, identify key partners and expand into new markets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams including technical, product, and marketing to ensure that partner requirements are represented on our product roadmap and that the business team understands the value proposition for solutions in the market

  • Lead business development efforts ranging from forming strategic partnerships with large, nationwide companies to negotiating relationships with local properties

  • Build a business development team and align their roles and responsibilities and compensation plans with the overall needs of the business

  • Identify key value-drivers for Allstate and partner companies; understand how Allstate’s capabilities can help to meet business partners’ objectives and vice versa

  • Develop marketing and sales communication materials with involvement of key stakeholders throughout the enterprise; present key capabilities and sales messages to potential partners

  • Develop/Source implement and maintain tools for tracking and analysis of partner opportunities and engagements

  • Align resources and opportunities among partnerships to deliver appropriate value from partnership agreements

  • Provide cross-functional leadership to create a holistic business system (ex. Product, technology, etc.);

  • Develop and execute a community partner acquisition strategy (source, evaluate, and close deals) that enable the business to achieve our onboarding targets.

  • Develop and maintain plans to maximize phone time, including strategic planning, adhering to metrics and defining outreach strategies based on market segment and prospect type

  • Implementing processes, tools and controls for enterprise collaboration and integration

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility

  • Highly motivated, influential and capable of understanding the value proposition of multiple partner companies and its respective businesses

  • Highly organized and effective in establishing priorities

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed organization

  • Comfortable leading or engaging in conversations within or outside of Allstate with leaders of varying hierarchical levels

  • Ability to understand partner’s brand, consumers, business model and objectives and make appropriate connections to Allstate’s objectives and capabilities

  • Creative problem-solver

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships within and outside of Allstate

  • Ability to advocate, collaborate, and influence leaders across the enterprise
