BMO Financial Group Financial Analyst, Consumer Lending in Chicago, Illinois

Description:

The financial analyst is responsible for supporting the Senior Relationship Manager in the management of the overall financial performance withinP&C Personal and Business Banking focusing on Consumer Lending. Inaddition, provide support in financial reporting, detailed financial analysis, interpretation and evaluation of a variety of information to identify issues and other financial implications. The Financial Analyst is accountable to perform the financial & business analytics to assist with / support the design, development, and implementation of business solutions that drive measurable business outcomes, and provide value added ideas, advice and recommendations on financial matters to support strategic decision making within the business / function they support. In addition, the Financial Analyst will assist the business/function they support with the development of the annual financial plans and quarterly forecasts for the business, and development of financial strategies to ensure overall financial performance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

A. Business Delivery & Operational Effectiveness

  • Assist US P&C Personal Finance group in the coordination and preparation of various financial reports, including monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, within agreed upon timelines

  • Participate in the month-end close process by reviewing transactions for accuracy and completeness, preparing accrual entries as required and performing research on notable transactions

  • Support the plan, forecast, CCAR and DFAST processes by preparing amounts, loading input to reporting systems and validating output/results

  • Develop/utilize financial models as required by the business to support strategic decision making, providing meaningful insights to the business and continually offering value added ideas, advice and solutions

  • Assist with adhoc projects as required

B. Client & Relationship Management

  • Display and encourage appropriate high performance behaviors that reflect our culture of Being BMO

  • Participate on projects and act as a subject matter expert to ensure financial information is reported completely and accurately

  • Build strong relationships and provide value added advice to ensure financial results are well understood and business results optimized

  • Support business group financial performance management activities by providing business group decision makers with timely financial information, advice and counsel

C. Risk Management and Control

  • Provide attestation to the validity of financial results and highlight significant information including variances, trends, opportunities and exposures to the Relationship Manager/Senior Manager, Financial Performance Management

  • Provide information and support the process for internal (Corporate and SOX) and external audits ensuring that requests are managed effectively and efficiently

  • Complete/support the completion of all regulatory and external reporting requirements ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information

D. Change & Innovation

  • Optimize the use of new technology and information systems updates to improve processes and system efficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Accounting

  • Analytical Thinking

  • Finance

  • Information Management

  • Organizational Understanding

  • Problem Solving

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 1-2 years in a financial analyst role

  • Proficiency in Essbase a big plus

  • Advance user knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word are required
