Work you ll do/Responsibilities

Wisconsin company is seeking an experienced z/OS systems programmer. The successful candidate will join a small team of technical system experts who manage and support Mainframe systems. The candidate will leverage his / her expertise of mainframe operating systems, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and resolve issues that result in a failure of the operating system software. The new team member will be expected to assume additional responsibilities as assigned. Must work effectively in a team environment, but also be able to carry out tasks independently while collaborating with the team.

Attends team meetings to discuss team and project related activities, work tasks, and issues

Provides primary on-call support on a rotational basis.

Completes specific team task activities as outlined in the project work plan and other job-related duties as assigned

Maintains close coordination with the Analysts at various geo locations with respect to the status of tickets, issues etc.

Creates and maintains regular status reports and provides verbal and written status to Project Managers, as required

Expected to be onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may exceed 40 hours per week depending on project needs.

Experience with z/OS related complex problem analysis/resolution using structured troubleshooting

Strong working knowledge of the mainframe environment

Hands on experience on DB2 V10 and above

Strong working knowledge in z/OS

Maintain an end to end view of the application and infrastructure landscape.

Server Time Protocol on the mainframe hardware management console, Support Element and all CLOCKxx parmlib member changes.

Will build programs/JCLs/PROCs independently without minimal or no handholding. Also should be able to guide the junior members of the team technically. Will also perform code and design reviews.

Updating the TCP/IP configuration for PCI requirements

Manage secure file transfers using MFT or other secure protocols.

We develop service-oriented architecture (SOA) and other integration solutions to enable information sharing and management between business partners and disparate processes and systems, and we deliver technology enablement to support CIO services transformation.

Systems Engineering professionals focus on key client issues that impact the core business by maximizing operational value, driving down the cost of quality, and enhancing technology innovation. Our teams deliver a wide range of services, including application architecture design and optimization, application modernization, business process management and solution integration, custom application design and development, and large-scale technology delivery program efforts.

Qualifications

Required

Mainframe systems software programming experience

z/OS experience with catalog management, ISPF/SDSF, z/FS Filesystem, Unix System Services, RACF, JES parameters, SYS1.PARMLIB, SYS1.PROCLIB members.

Proficient with TSO/ISPF, JES2, RMF, SMF

Performance troubleshooting experience.

Experience working with hardware to include a basic understanding of FICON/ESCON connectivity, DASD architecture [alias (PAV) management, cryptographic coprocessors, data encryption techniques] and virtual (VTS) tape libraries.

z/OS experience with catalog management, ISPF/SDSF, z/FS Filesystem, Unix System Services, RACF, JES parameters, SYS1.PARMLIB, SYS1.PROCLIB members.

z/OS SYSPLEX management including couple dataset definition and coupling facilities, dataset management (allocation, backup, restore, etc.) including DFDSS, DFSMS storage constructs, XCF, System Logger, etc.

Ability to debug and resolve Mainframe operating system software issues

Experience with IPL procedures and JES commands.

Work well in a team environment

Experience with DB2, CICS, MQ a plus.
