BMO Financial Group Relationship Manager, US Personal & Commercial Banking Finance in Chicago, Illinois
The Relationship Manager, US P&C Finance, is accountable to support the Senior Relationship Manager to provide advice and service to business leaders in Consumer Lending. This includes actively monitoring financial management activities and ensuring performance and business plans are aligned to optimize performance in all areas including project funding, cost management and productivity. The Relationship Manager is part of a financial center of competence that will support the businesses medium to long term strategic planning. The role will support assigned business unit leadership in achieving financial goals through the provision of decision support including information, expertise, advice and recommendations. This role is accountable to develop, monitor and review financial plans, forecasts and objectives. Also accountable to provide governance for issue identification and reporting for BMO US client groups, escalating issues to the Senior Relationship Manager and/or Corporate Controller, as required.
Business Delivery & Operational Effectiveness
Coordinate, review and validate business unit planning and forecasting activities for consistency in achieving overall business strategic plans, providing financial advice and decision support where required.
Provide financial analysis, planning and forecasting to identify strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats, and develop recommendations for plans to address.
Prepare, analyze and communicate financial results for the business unit to various stakeholders within Finance and across Consumer Lending.
Interpret financial results for the business unit, highlighting trends and underlying causes and determining the key financial performance messages. Client & Relationship Management
Build strong relationships and provide value add advice to business partners to ensure financial results are well understood and business results optimized.
Display and encourage appropriate high performance behaviors that reflect our culture of Being BMO.
Provide proactive, creative solutions and analysis, including cost allocation principles, methodology and activity based costing, to support business financial and strategic initiatives and achievement of business strategies and financial targets.
Work in partnership with the business and the Finance management, to assist in optimal structuring of new initiatives and strategies, ensure that structures comply with regulatory rules and guidelines.
Support business group financial performance management activities, providing business group decision makers and Senior Relationship Managers with financial information, advice and counsel. Risk Management and Control
Provide leadership on financial processes for the business unit ensuring accurate recording, reporting, and communication of all transactions.
Provide attestation to the validity of financial results and highlight significant information including variances, trends, opportunities and exposures to the Senior Relationship Manager
Complete/support the completion of all regulatory and external reporting requirements ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information. Change & Innovation
Participate in various initiatives and projects providing financial advice and expertise on impacts to the supported business group.
Optimize the use of new technology and information systems updates to improve processes and system efficiencies
Foster an environment of continuous improvement.
Managerial Leadership (Note: Not accountable to formally manage direct reports
Support the learning and development of more junior roles within the team, acting as a “go to” person for questions and concerns and optimizing succession planning.
MBA preferred or comparable work experience
CPA or equivalent preferred
5 to 8 years of retail banking experience
Experience in consumer lending, particularly mortgage, home equity, auto or credit card
Excellent financial analysis ability
Broad experience in planning, forecasting and analysis
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in preparing and delivering presentations
Excellent relationship management capabilities; ability to develop and foster relationships with and influence senior executives
High achievement orientation/strive for a standard of excellence and visibly demonstrate the ability to get the job done
High degree of demonstrated conceptual/strategic thinking
Essbase knowledge preferred
Strong knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
