BMO Financial Group Senior Paralegal Personal & Commercial in Chicago, Illinois
The candidate will be responsible to assist with legal and administrative duties for a highly active litigation group. Principal duties and responsibilities will include:
Assist attorneys with case organization, document management, discovery (working with internal stakeholders), and administrative tasks.
Assist internal counsel with management of less complex litigation and arbitration.
Support management of outside counsel andoversee budgets and invoices on litigation matters to ensure timely authorization, billing and payment working with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide case management support using the Group’s case management systems.
Prepare, distribute and manage Legal Holds working with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and assist with regular reporting for internal and external stakeholders and prepare related presentation materials.
Proofread reports, memos, court filings, and other documents.
Perform legal and non-legal fact research using various research tools, Westlaw, PACER, and other internal and external systems.
Help define procedures and practices within the litigation group to promote efficient workflows and handling of legal requests.
Work independently on special projects relating to litigation, legal and regulatory matters.
Communicate with internal and external counsel and business contacts on a day-to-day basis.
Ideally, the candidate should have:
Approximately 5-10years experience and a Paralegal Certificate or equivalent training on thejob.
Bachelor’s degreeand large law firm or in-house experience preferred.
Strong interpersonaland communication skills.
Superior mattermanagement and organizational skills and strong writing abilities are critical.
Ability to receive generaldirection and run projects independently.
Ability to work in a fast-pacedand ever-changing environment.
