MANDATE

Under the direction of the Regulatory Liaison and ARI Programs Director, the Senior Manager, Audit and Regulatory Interactions (ARI), provides support to the Audit and Regulatory Interactions function within T&O Risk and Internal Controls (TORIC). The Senior Manager will support the ARI Programs Director in partnering with key 1a points across T&O and the Enterprise to provide direction and guidance related to audits and exams, ensuring awareness and mitigation of potential areas of risk. This role is heavily focused on regulatory interactions and exam management. The role also supports the ARI Programs Director and ARI function in managing the audit and exam calendars and alignment to testing and readiness assessments.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist the ARI team and the broader TORIC function in executing against a defined interaction model related to T&O audits, exams and retest activities.

  • Oversees and reviews pre-exam activities such as the coordination of documentation, completion of pull list activities, coordination of exam preparation meetings as appropriate.

  • In coordination with the ARI Director, facilitates gathering of regulatory deliverables and leads internal efforts to compile required documentation to support examiner meetings, follow up/ad hoc requests.

  • Recommends actions to respond in-flight exam requests.

  • Provides Director, ARI Programs (and other key stakeholders/TORIC management as required) on-going updates of in-flight exam status, including any issues.

  • Facilitates meetings with remediation teams and assists in drafting success criteria against regulatory findings.

  • Tracks and reports on any examination remediation activities to facilitate regulatory updates.

  • Interfaces with the 1a remediation teams and the Enterprise Regulatory Office in preparation for RRCC Panel or OSFI Internal Remediation Panel.

  • Reviews results of exams, tracking any noted themes and trends that can be applied across T&O.

  • Prepares and provides updates as required to applicable steering committees, regulators, CSAs and risk management committees/forums.

  • Ensures regular updates are entered into the ARI audit/exam database and supports associated reporting needs.

  • Continuously works to establish a culture of understanding the purpose behind regulatory-directed decisions and expectations.

  • Performs special projects as assigned.

AUTHORITIES

To deliver on these accountabilities, the incumbent must have the following authorities:

  • Coordinate and drive T&O regulatory activities and reporting (exam preparation, pull list submission, exam presentations, regulatory tracking and reporting, etc.)

  • Facilitate exam interactions and responses

Escalation to T&O and TORIC leadership of exam concerns / identified gaps

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

  • Possesses a university degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 8 to 10 years experience in Regulatory Compliance and/or Risk Management.

  • Experience leading or assisting with examinations.

  • Experience assisting with regulatory remediation activities.

  • Solid knowledge of Bank’s various risk types.

  • Solid knowledge of the Bank’s Policies and Procedures in relation to internal controls, risk and compliance.

  • Solid understanding of Bank legal and managerial organizational structure and regulatory implications.

  • Solid knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, as well as maintenance of Spotfire reporting.
